Hard game, doesn't appeal to everyone
Bart Vs. The Space Mutants was the first Simpsons game availablefor the NES. I would call it an average game. You are Bart, andyou are indeed against the Space Mutants. It seems they want totake over the world, and they go about doing that by collectingcertain everyday items you can find on Earth. Bart needs to getrid of or change these objects to prevent the aliens from gettingthem. For example, in the first level, Bart must get rid of anythingpurple. He can do this by spray painting or covering up thesepurple objects. In the second level, he must collect all hats fromthe shopping mall, and so on. Bart is equipped with a pair of X-Rayglasses, which allow him to see if a regular pedestrian is justthat or if they are a space mutant. If they are, Bart can jump on their head for points. If he destroys all the aliens in a levela member of his family will help him against the boss. This is aone player game only.
Very Simpson-like. They would be considered average, at best. Oneplus is the inclusion of many Simpson related locations, such asthe statue of Jebediah Springfield and the Quik-E-Mart.
Nothing great here. Average music and sound effects.
Nice concept, but simply put, the game is too hard. Many playerswill struggle to simply pass the first level, and the last onesare extremely difficult. It is also common to be unsure what to do,and often by the time you find out it's too late to do what youwere supposed to. On top of this, control is slippery at best.Bart slides somewhat when he walks and it's hard to time his jumpswell. You'll begin to get frustrated when you have to make pinpointjumps. Another negative is the lack of any kind of save feature.Due to this you'll be playing the first couple of levels over andover.
I don't know why anyone would want to play this game again. Thereare no alternative options, so once it's done there's nothing newto do.
Too bad, because this game had some good ideas. Unfortunately, the control and difficulty ruined it. This game is proof that a goodidea doesn't always mean a good game unless gameplay is perfected. You could try this game, but if you do, nothing more than a rental.
