Action 52 is generally recognized as one of the worst games of all time, and there are a multitude of reasons for this. Firstly, the 52 games in Action 52 are particularly well-known for having clearly been rushed and without having gone through a thorough debugging and testing process, leaving the games glitchy and barely entertaining. Perhaps more interesting, however, is the game's terrible marketing scheme. The game was marketed so that it would often sell for $150 to $200 or more, in sharp contrast to the rarely-exceeded $15 to $30 the vast majority of NES games saw, on the basis that the player was getting 52 games for less than $4 each, in the vein of a bargain. Needless to say, once the atrocious quality of the games was publicized, few people cared about this "bargain".
