_______________________________________________________________________________

I have stopped wondering how he does it, but once again Saikyo Mog found a game
that completely hooked me from the start. I knew nothing about Villgust, and
it is only thanks to an emulator and an unofficial translation that I am able
to play this Japanese only release. If you can find a copy it is well worth
playing despite the cursory story and sometimes nonsensical dialogue. The
battle system is great fun, and the characters are charming and beautifully
depicted with their changes of costumes. There are other FAQs for the game but
I have added a few maps and some extra details that I hope you will find of
use.

_______________________________________________________________________________

After playing for the first time I decided there were three things needed in a
guide for this game.

o How to fight
This might sound obvious, but the battle system is unique and takes a while to
get used to, at least, I found it so. There are some nifty things you can do to
make the game a whole lot easier.

o Where to go
This doesn't just include which town or dungeon is next, and how to find it,
(in fact that is relatively simple to accomplish), but how to navigate the
sometimes confusing dungeons.

o How to trigger the next event
This is often not entirely clear and although you can carry on exploring and
even reach some further off caves and castles if you want to, you will not be
able to continue with the story unless you find particular people or places.
I have added a separate section on the triggers, so you could just use this as
a quick checklist if you don't require a detailed walkthrough.

Anyhow these three things form the basis for my walkthrough. The Game Basics
section acts as a tutorial on fighting and gives some general advice about the
way the game works. There are some map FAQs at GameFAQs which are based on my
ASCII maps in the walkthrough, and I hope these help with the second, and
lastly the triggers are commented on throughout the walkthrough, and I've added
shop lists to help you decide what to purchase.

The Lists section details levels and spells and equipment and all the other
bits and pieces you might expect together with a summary of all the "triggers".

There is no in-game help or tutorial so this section is designed to explain the
way the game works. It's just the kind of thing you might see in a manual,
except that since I am playing a translation of the game I don't have access
to one.

A - used for action, and confirming selected options from the menu.
B - used for searching objects and opening including treasure chests, and to

-----------
BATTLE MENU
-----------
A - used to jump while fighting.
B - used for attack and as the back button to return to the previous screen
when checking the options for the Pie Chart.

SELECT - used during a battle to access the Magic and Item menu.
START - pauses the game during a battle. Press it again to continue.

-------------------
DIRECTIONAL BUTTONS
-------------------
The directional buttons are used for movement: up, down, right and left in the
field and during battles.

Also, there are some additional useful things to do when fighting.

Press DOWN to crouch. This allows you to duck and avoid missiles, and to
target enemies that are close to the ground.

You can also use DOWN when you jump to make a straight attack downwards, (no
need to use the B button for this attack).

The UP directional button must be used for magic during battle. Press UP and
then B to activate a spell.

-----------------------------
THE WORLD MAP - STONE CIRCLES
-----------------------------
If you travel too far in any direction you end up in a stone circle. In effect
you leave the particular location and are transported to the nearest World Map
point as represented by these stones. Simply re-enter the stone circle to be
taken back to the area where you left the field. There are a number of these
stone circles which act as portals to different areas of the world of Villgust.

-----------------------
HUTS, TOWNS AND CASTLES
-----------------------
If you see a round hut on the world map this usually represents the entrance
to a dungeon area, most often inside a cavern. A town is a small square with
buildings, and a castle shows battlements, and sometimes is attached to the
town. There are also towers which are clearly visible as such. Many of these
locations can be visited in any order, but bosses and trigger events will not
occur until you have completed the relevant events.

--------------
TRIGGER EVENTS
--------------
These are certain events that must have been triggered before you can progress
to the next stage of the story. They often entail talking to particular
people, and sometimes to everyone, in a town.

--------
SHOPPING
--------
When buying equipment select any member of the team and you can see the full
list. When someone cannot use the weapon or armour then a star will show
against the item, and you cannot purchase it. You can ONLY buy things for the
person who can equip them, and even then, if they currently have better armour
or a stronger weapon equipped, then you cannot buy a weaker item. (I think this
is to make up for the fact that there is no information about the increased
stats, so it ensures that you won't waste money by buying something that is
less useful.)

Items are listed separately on the shop menu and can be bought by anyone so
long as you have the Gold and the inventory space.

-----
ITEMS
-----
There is a limit of 28 items that can be carried, and this includes equipment.
If you come across a treasure chest and have a full inventory then you will be
informed of that fact and can use or drop an item and then open the chest.

---------
EQUIPMENT
---------
Weapons and armour are unique to each party member, with the exception of
Lucia and Sylvie who both can equip some identical armour. Once equipped there
is no way to remove any weapon or piece of equipment except when you replace
it with another. Some equipment is in a "set" and when all pieces are equipped
the appearance of the individual changes.

-------
FORGING
-------
Some towns have a forge where you can increase the power of some weapons,
usually twice, and this costs very little so it well worth while. Only weapons
that display a Level (L1) can be forged, with a couple of exceptions. The
character must have the weapon equipped for it to be forged.

---------------
INNS AND SAVING
---------------
Every town has an inn where you can rest and recover HP and MP and save your
game. Resting will not revive a dead character nor heal poison. The cost
increases as you progress to new towns, and is based on the number in the
party. You can have only two saves slots for the game.

--------------
STATUS EFFECTS
--------------
There are a number of possible status effects that enemies can inflict, but
only POISON will remain once the battle has ended. The person will slowly lose
HP and there will be a small sound that indicates someone is poisoned, and
their Life will decrease to a tiny sliver although they won't actually die if
not in a battle. You can heal this by paying for healing at a church, using an
Antidote item, or by casting a magic spell, although you won't have access to
the latter until your party gain more levels. Resting at an inn does not cure
poison.

-----
DEATH
-----
If someone dies during a battle their status is shown as DEAD, and you cannot
buy any equipment for someone who is dead, or use their spells to heal others.
You will see a message that they can buy magic, but what this means is that you
can buy an item to revive them. However these are not available until about
half way through the game, and until then you have to revive someone at a
church and the cost is dependent on their current level, at a rate of 50 Gold
per level. So, for example, at level 4 it costs 200 Gold and at level 5 it
costs 250 Gold. There is a spell that revives people, but again, you won't get
that until later in the game.

If Murobo dies while on his own then you "lose your senses", the Goddess will
revive him, and you are back to the beginning of the game if you haven't saved!

-----
MAGIC
-----
Everyone, except Murobo, will gain more magic spells when they increase levels,
but since attack spells can only be used during a battle, you can only see the
list of these spells when fighting. If the character has healing spells then
these can be used (and viewed) both during a battle and in the field whenever
and wherever you choose.

---------------------
LEVELS AND EXPERIENCE
---------------------
Your team will gain levels slowly as they gain experience from fighting
battles. Everyone who participates in the battle will share the overall
experience from that group of enemies, but if they don't fight they get
nothing. What this means in practice in that only the characters that are
named at the end of the fight get the experience even though the text on
screen says that "everyone" does. So if someone dies, or has no enemies on
their part of the pie chart, then the others will divide the experience
between them.

-------
ENEMIES
-------
Enemy encounters are random and they usually appear in groups. You have to
defeat them all in order to win the battle. Enemies don't drop anything other
than Gold.

3. M E N U S .......................................................... *MENU
===============================================================================

From the main screen select the action button and this brings up the main menu.

--------
STRENGTH
--------
Select this option to see each character in turn and you can choose one to see
their full stat screen. This shows current levels, Life, a nice image of the
character with their equipment and their stats. You can also opt to see ALL
characters on one page and this details their levels, experience and Life and
any current status effect such as Poison or Dead.

+----------+---------+--------------------------+
| Strength | NAME | Lv: Level |
|          |         | LIFE: |||| (lines)       |
|----------+---------+--------------------------|
| Picture | EXP - Experience |
| | MGP - Magic Power (for spells) |
| | ATP - Attack Power STR - Strength |
| | DFP - Defence Power DEF - Defence |
|----------+------------------------------------|
| W: Weapon S: Shield |
| H: Hand Armour B: Body Armour |
| A: Arm Armour L: Leg Armour |
+-----------------------------------------------+

NOTES
ATP will change depending on what weapon is equipped and DFP is effected by any
armour, although these stats do increase with levels as well.

LIFE, STR and MGP are determined only by levels, and these increase with each
level.

"LIFE" is in effect HP, and is shown by lines each representing 1 Life Point.
When Life reaches 30 lines or points, then it is represented with one BEAD.

Only Murobo can equip a shield and some characters will not have equipment for
all slots.

-----
EQUIP
-----
Select this option to see the equip screen and here you can change equipment
of one character at a time using things from the inventory.

ATP - Attack Power
DFP - Defence Power

Numbers for these are shown at the top right of the page and these will change
depending on equipment. Weapons effect attack power and all armour effects
defence power.

-----
ITEMS
-----
Here you can USE or DROP any item. Be careful because there is no second chance
to agree to drop something once you select it. For any items that cannot be
used, you will get a message to tell you so, or that the item is "not in
service" if it's not appropriate. When something is useable then you will have
a choice of which party member should use it.

-----
MAGIC
-----
Choose this option and you can then select any character to see their healing
spells and then select to use one. You cannot see the attack spells from this
menu, which is slightly annoying.

-----
ORDER
-----
This option gives you the chance to decide how to arrange the order of battle
on the pie chart (more of this in the next section) while outside battle. You
will see the current team and their levels and can list them in the right hand
panel.

The left hand numbers list the current party members and the right hand
numbers are empty until you fill them up. Select the character that you want to
see in the top position and their name will go in the no.1 slot. If you have
less than 5 characters then you will have a number of slots according to how
many people are in the team. With just three people (for example) you will
only have three options from the main menu, although all five are there during
a battle because enemies can appear on all five sections of the pie chart.

For example:

1. Muobo 1. Lucia
2. Lucia 2. Murobo
3. Sylvie 3. Sylvie

Change the first person and you will see a different party leader on the
field. Oddly, they will remain in the lead even if dead!

===============================================================================
4. B A T T L E S Y S T E M ........................................... *BATT
===============================================================================

The battle system is unique and offers many different options which you really
need to make the very use of to survive some of the tougher battles.

-----------
BATTLE FLOW
-----------
Battles trigger randomly when on the world map and in most dungeons, though not
in towns, except for some story related fights. Sometimes you won't get a
chance to look or take your time to select the order because it will be a
surprise attack and so you'll just have to do the best you can with the set up
you have. However, most battles allow you to check out the opposition or change
the order.

Each person will fight their allotted enemy or enemies in turn, and at the end
of the whole battle, when all have been defeated, everyone that took part in
the battle will gain experience. If there are no enemies on a piece of the
battle pie screen then that character will sit out the battle and not gain any
experience points.

---------
PIE CHART
---------
Every battle begins with showing you a pie chart where each enemy is seen in
one of five segments in a circle. Your characters will fight then in order of:

1. Top segment
2. Second left
3. Centre bottom
4. Bottom right
5. Top right

In other words you fight in an anti-clockwise order. If there are more enemies
than you have team members then after the first round of battles you will go
again until all enemies have been defeated, and you will also have all the
options shown again, including the choice to change the order of battle.

-------
OPTIONS
-------
FIGHT - Select this and the the battle begins

LOOK - Select this option and you can scroll through each character and see
the names and Life points of the enemies they will fight.

ORDER - If weaker team members are facing powerful enemies then you have the
option to change the order of the fight. The first choice will
automatically go to the top of the list and then second to the second
place and so on. However, you can choose no-one if you have less than
five people in the team so your line-up could appear like this:

         1. Murobo
         2. -
         3. -
         4. Lucia
         5. Sylvie

You MUST fill each option even if you have less than the full 5.
You can arrange the order to suit at any other time by using the
         command from the main menu.

RUN - Select to run and you might be able to avoid the battle, but this
rarely works, and seems to be most likely to be successful against
weaker enemies, which you won't really bother to run from anyway. It
does not appear to work at all if you attempt to run halfway through
a battle if you have the Options presented again.

AUTO - This is an interesting option and best used when you don't want to
use up Magic Points or are facing enemies that you find awkward to
fight. I used this against foes that can poison or elusive spiders
and scorpions. When using AUTO, no spells or items can be used,
opponents simply stand facing each other and use physical attacks in
turn until one side wins. Also if there are two enemies in a piece of
pie then you deal with them one at time. This gives you the option of
turn-based fighting, although you have no direct control over the
outcome, and have to watch as your people inflict and suffer attacks.

--------------------------------
USING ITEMS AND SPELLS IN BATTLE
--------------------------------
Press SELECT and you will be shown a new screen where you can equip an item or
spell (only one of each). You can select the item from the shared inventory,
but the spells are individually unique. While you make your selection the
battle will be paused.

After returning to the main battle (which occurs automatically as soon as you
have finished choosing the spell and/or item), you have to use the commands UP
and then the attack command button to fire off the spell or use the item. Also,
the item only appears to activate when you actually hit the enemy so it pays to
be careful if you need to heal up during a battle.

When using the AUTO option every character starts their battle on this select
screen and you have the choice to select a spell or item before starting the
Auto battle.

The magic and items selected only remain for that battle and you will have to
set them again for the next battle.

-------------
BATTLE SCREEN
-------------
You can move freely from side to side in the battle screen and can jump or
crouch to avoid enemies and their missiles. Many battles take place in an area
with platforms that you can jump onto to avoid some foes or attack the flying
ones.

===============================================================================
5. C H A R A C T E R S ................................................ *CHAR
===============================================================================

The characters are listed in the order in which you recruit them. If you want
to avoid any surprises then skip this section!

------
MUROBO
------
The game begins with Murobo and he is the strongest character who fights with
an axe and equips armour, including a shield. He does not have any magic
power and therefore cannot use any spells.

STARTING STATS AND EQUIPMENT

+----------+---------+---------------+
| Strength | MUROBO | Lv: 1 |
| | | LIFE: |
|----------+---------+---------------|
| Picture | EXP - 0/100 |
| | MGP - 0/0 |
| | ATP - 15 STR - 5 |
| | DFP - 23 DEF - 2 |
|----------+-------------------------|
| W: HandAxe L1 S: Iron |
| H: Basic B: Basic |
| A: Basic L: Basic |
+------------------------------------+

Now this is a little confusing since Murobo's equipment is called Basic and the
ITEM Basic is used to heal. At first I thought he was equipped with lots of
healing items, but in fact this is not so. You can see that his Attack Power is
15 which is fine, but the defence power is 23 and there is no way to know
precisely which of his four defensive pieces of equipment gives which degree of
protection. You cannot remove equipment to check his default stats, so I have
based equipment stats on these values, which means that they are not entirely
reliable.

------
SYLVIE
------
Sylvie does not use a weapon but is a strong fighter with a number of healing
spells and one attack spell.

STARTING STATS AND EQUIPMENT

+----------+---------+---------------+
| Strength | SYLVIE | Lv: 1 |
| | | LIFE: |

+------------------------------------+

-----
LUCIA
-----
Lucia uses a claw weapon although she has none to start with. She has mostly
attack spells and will become a very powerful fighter.

STARTING STATS AND EQUIPMENT

+----------+---------+---------------+
| Strength | LUCIA | Lv: 1 |

| A: Quick L: Wind |
+------------------------------------+

-----
LEMMY
-----
She is the weakest character but has some useful healing and attack spells. At
higher levels her wand physical attack is powerful enough to kill most enemies.

STARTING STATS AND EQUIPMENT

+----------+---------+---------------+
| Strength | LEMMY | Lv: 5 |
| | | LIFE: |
|----------+---------+---------------|
| Picture | EXP - 960/1450 |

| | DFP - 15 DEF - 7 |
|----------+-------------------------|
| W: Staff S: |
| H: Magic B: |
| A: L: Kneepad |
+------------------------------------+

Spells : Heal, Heal All, and Fireball at her joining level 5.

-------
BOSTOPH
-------
He is a very useful character since he is equipped with a boomerang which can
kill more than one enemy at once, and it allows him to stay at a distance from

_______________________________________________________________________________

o When you gain a new party member, improve their equipment if you can by
returning to previous towns which may sell things that only that person can
  equip.

o Sell off old equipment when you replace it with new, otherwise your
inventory will fill up. You can sell things for 2/5ths of the cost price.

o If you give someone a "set" of equipment then their appearance on the
Strength screen will change and it may change during battle as well.

o If someone has a lower level and is struggling to survive (e.g. Lemmy, whose
overall strength and defence is low) then use the Look and Order commands
before a battle begins to make sure that they get to fight the easier
  enemies.

o When fighting jump over enemies to attack them from behind thus avoiding
their attacks and spells, and jump on pillars or trees to outmanoeuvre
  enemies.

o Try to avoid touching an enemy unless you are actually hitting it, and even
then, if you get too close your attack will not work.

o Magic is most effective against pairs of enemies since even the weaker
spells will target them both, especially if one is behind the other.

o Use the crouch (Down button) to avoid some attacks, or jump to avoid many
  others.

o When using the Auto option it can take longer to complete a battle, as you
have to select spells and items from the screen first before each battle.
If you fight effectively the normal way then there is really not much need
  to use Auto at all.

o You will ALWAYS be given the list of battle options before fighting a boss,
so you can change the order of battle and check out their Life and names.

o If you let a higher level character die and stay dead for a while, or change
the order so they are left out of a fight, then this can help to level up
other characters more quickly as they will gain more experience from battles.

o If the next dungeon or castle does not have the boss or item you were
expecting to find, then this means that you missed a trigger. Return to the
previous town and talk to everyone to rectify this.

Normally I would do my best to leave out any comments about the story or

____________|_______|_____________|___________________________________________

After the brief introduction you will gain control of Murobo (the Goddess
Hero!) and can begin your journey to do whatever it is a hero must do to
vanquish evil.

First of all pick up the ANTIDOTE from the left pot in the right house, and
chat if you want, but the only person you really MUST talk to is the chap
standing next to the exit. Other than that this first town won't give you much
joy in terms of people or items, so it's time to do what any sensible hero
always does in such circumstances. Leave town, hoping to find anyone who can
speak coherent English (you are in for disappointment on this count), and a few
enemies (in plentiful supply) on which to practice your fighting skills.

You might want to make a few trips back and forth to familiarise yourself with
the battle system, and raise Murobo's levels a little. You will receive gold
from defeated enemies and can buy a few Basic potions for healing since you
don't yet have any other way to restore health when in the field.

If you want to get back to the village quickly and find you have walked too far
or lost too much health to risk another battle, then walk south on the world
map, or west where there are no mountains and you will arrive at the stone
circle to the right of the village. Exit from here and walk north with the
first line of mountains on your right (it's only a few steps) and then east,
and you will be back at the village. Here you can save for free at the inn and
stay there if you require full health restoration, as it's cheaper than using a
potion. Upgrade to the IronAxe when you have sufficient funds, which will take
only one or two battles to obtain.

Alternatively, just walk to the next village and find a companion as quickly as
possible and then both of you can gain some levels together. Two is better than
one! By the way, while Murobo is on his own there is a pause between each
fight since he has to defeat all the enemies on the pie chart.

The house to the right has ANTIDOTE in the left pot, and Sylvie is there, but
if you just speak to the Elder first you can save yourself a few seconds and
she will join you after this. The Elder's House has BASIC in the left pot.
Speak to him and then return to Sylvie. The left house above the Elder's house
has BASIC in the right hand pot. The Church is situated at the top right and
has a small cross above the door, and this is where you can revive anyone that
dies. The cost for this varies according to level.

Sylvie joins you with no weapon or armour, so you might want to buy some before
setting out. Quick is the cheapest to start with and increases defence by 5,
and you may only have sufficient cash for this. I'd suggest fighting a few
battles to level up Sylvie so she gets her Heal Spell (at level 2) and
equipping her with the rest of the armour available, before heading out for the
forest, but you can probably survive until you reach Lucia. Make sure you buy a
few antidotes as many enemies can inflict poison and you won't have access to a
cure poison spell until Lucia reaches level 3.

You enter a forest area, and you will be facing south, down a narrow path. If
you continue down that path you will be back on the world map, so turn to face
north and then if you go east you will see a person standing surrounded by
trees but you can't reach them. Follow the path to the west and north and then
east and south again to find Lucia, and then accompany her up to the hut, which
is now accessible.

Before fighting the Evil Magician return to the "Cat People" village and allow
both Sylvie and Lucia to gain a few levels as well as buying the "Wind"
equipment for Sylvie. If you don't do this, then there is a good chance that
Lucia will die in the battle if she is only at level one.

+----------------------+
| BOSS - EVIL MAGICIAN |

RECOMMENDED LEVELS: Level 5 for Murobo and Sylvie, and 3 for Lucia.
REWARD: 700 Gold.

PIE CHART
1. Magician
2. Orc Fighter
3. Orc Fighter

Make sure everyone is at full health before entering the hut, and then once
inside approach the figure. He is a "rude magician" who isn't pleased to see
you! Cue - battle! You can change the order if you wish and check on the Life
and names of the enemies. They all have one bead +3 lines of Life.

1. The Magician will disappear and reappear at places floating half way up or
higher in the battle screen. He can also inflict confusion, but it doesn't last
for long, and uses 4 missiles which fly in predetermined directions in the
shape of an X. Jump up and slash at him and move to avoid his darts. Make sure
to use Murobo for this battle.

2. The Orc Fighter is easy enough for Sylvie.

3. Another Orc Fighter is also easy for Lucia even at level 3.

Both of these will move through your character if you don't jump out of the
way, but just keep hitting to kill them both. If you jump over them then you
have a better chance of attacking from the back.

After the battle return to the Cat People Village and stay at the inn to heal
and save.

LOCATION
This is found by walking west from the Cat People village and through the gap
in the mountains, then proceed north.

Return to the village to the west of the Hut Forest AFTER defeating the
Magician. You must speak to the Elder who is found in the house to the right of
the Inn, and speak to the pink cat woman near the bottom left house, and she
tells you that the Magician's Wife is in the Western Tower, so that's your next
destination. It's the tiny tower on the world map, but it's big enough inside.
Make sure you have some Basics and Antidotes to spare, although you will find
some inside the Tower. However, if you explore the Tower before the trigger
chat, then you won't find the boss.

There are pillars in this dungeon so fighting is much easier as you can jump
up on the pillars both to avoid some enemies and to target the flying ones. It
seemed to me that enemies got more frequent as I got higher up and it's a
good plan to keep checking your health as you really don't want anyone to die
and have to start this section all over again.

From the entrance walk to the left and follow the path all the way around to
the stairs. Climb up to the next floor and this time follow the path around to
the right bottom corner, where you go DOWN some stairs to find yourself back on
the ground floor. Follow the path until you reach the next set of stairs, which
lead up again.

On this next floor walk to the right to find a chest with MEGA! Walk left and
down for another chest with BASIC and up for the second chest with BASIC. Then
head left to find some more steps leading up. Follow the path up and to the
right until you find a chest at the lower right corner containing ANTIDOTE and
some more steps leading up just to the left of the chest room.

TOP FLOOR
This floor has just one room with what appears to be an altar table or maybe
a coffin. There are the same kind of enemies in here except that the
battlefield is very different with an icy and slippery floor. When you arrive,
with the conditions being met, there are two figures standing at the coffin and
when you approach something appears on the coffin: it looks familiar, the
Magician again. Make sure everyone is at full health before approaching him.

+--------------------+
| BOSS: - GHOST MAGE |
+--------------------+

RECOMMENDED LEVELS: Level 7 for Murobo and Sylvie, and 5/6 for Lucia.
REWARD: 789 Gold.

PIE CHART
1. Ghost Mage
2, Kyuona
3. Kyouna

1. Ghost Mage
As before he will move around at high altitude although he does not disappear.
This time he can stun you, though not for long, and will fire a single missile
which creates electricity. I used Sylvie and fired off her Nypeta missile back
at him. You will need to make sure she jumps if you do this or otherwise the
missile with miss the target. Alternatively use Murobo and just keep jumping to
hit him and avoid touching him or his electricity. Use healing items if your
health is getting low.

2. and 3. Kyouna
These are harder as this ghost thing moves fast from one side of the battle
zone to the other, using a small tornado as well as firing some boomerang type
crescent things. It is virtually invulnerable when teleporting and the tornado
can also damage you. Crouch to avoid these winds, and when it stops to fire the
missiles, jump and hit it. These two enemies actually have more life points
than the Ghost Mage. I found that if I moved when it did and crouched again,
then I was less likely to end up crouching under it when it stopped moving.
Stay in the centre area and avoid the far sides completely. At level 6 it will
take quite a few hits to kill these.

(Don't worry too much if someone dies, as the enemy will still have the reduced
HP from the previous fighter, and the next town is close by.)

After the battle a rabbit appears - this in fact the Goddess. After a brief
chat you will be back on the world map at a different location. Enter the stone
circle and from the arrival point walk straight up the grass to find a new
town.

From the entrance walk right to find the Inn and left for the weapon shop where
you can buy new armour for Sylvie (and sell off her "Wind" equipment), but you
cannot buy equipment for party members that you haven't yet recruited. Revive
any dead characters from the previous boss battle if you need to, and then
start your search of this new place.

To save yourself some unnecessary chatting and walking around, first of all
visit the house with Lemmy inside and ranks of soldiers, and speak to her and
the two individuals. You can't get a word out of the ranks, so you can ignore
them. Then head for the top left corner near the church, and speak to the man
called "Butterfly" about a merchant taking applications for soldiers. (No he is
not a Butterfly or anything remotely resembling one but you will meet more
"Butterfly" men as this is another weird translation error.)

Then speak to EVERYONE else in the village. The house up from the Inn has a
lady called Linda. There is a large house at the top right with BASIC in the
left hand pot, with more information about the Pit from a man and a girl who
hints at warding off the monsters. Talk to the people wandering around (4 of
them) and the boy in the middle will tell you about the Pit, and the child will
say it's to the East. "Everyone" includes the shopkeeper (though not the priest
or innkeeper) even if you don't buy anything. Finally return to the soldiers
room to find they have all gone and Linda is standing there alone.

If you fight some battles on the world map the Mirror Cat may appear and this
enemy is strong at lower levels. Be careful of its Stun missile and use Basic
potions to heal if necessary. Sylvie's Nypeta magic is very useful against
this enemy.

===============================================================================

LOCATION
Walk a few steps north of the "Pit" town and then east between the mountains,
and you will see a small hut surrounded with mountains, which you can access
after the trigger event in the village.

PIT ENEMIES
Giant Spider, Half Dwarf, Dal Slime, Royal Magiro, Killer Sasoli, Wood Dwarf,
Skull Soldier, El Race, Cockatrice, Kyouna, Pumpkin Ghost.

RECRUIT: - Lemmy (level 5)

The battle screen has a slippery floor with pillars at either side so use these
to your advantage both to reach the spider and stay out of harm's way. If you
are having trouble with the enemies in here you can leave and go back to the
town to buy more items and save your game.

This place is just a series of rooms connected with stairs and there are no
secret passages or items to find. Each large room will be filled with ranks of
silent soldiers, so walk around them to the north side where you will find
Lemmy and the two soldier leaders blocking the narrow passage. Talk to Lemmy if
you like, but you only need to speak to the the blue coated leader, and then
another figure will appear by the steps at the far end of this corridor. Talk
to the Leader again and he will say "Forward" and that's the cue for battle.

+-----------------------+
| BOSS - ORC FIGHTER x3 |
+-----------------------+

RECOMMENDED LEVELS: Level 8 for Murobo and Sylvie, and 7 for Lucia.
REWARD: 600 Gold

There are three identical enemies at the top, left and bottom of the pie
chart. These are easy and though they move quickly and have an axe they won't
cause many problems.

After the battle speak again to the Leader who will now move forwards and let
you access the steps down. Again there are soldiers in the centre of the large
area, so walk around, speak to Lemmy and the Leader to trigger the enemy, and
the Leader again for the next battle. This is just the same as the last fight
and with the same rewards.

+-----------------------+
| BOSS - ORC FIGHTER x3 |
+-----------------------+

RECOMMENDED LEVELS: Level 8 for Murobo and Sylvie, and 7 for Lucia.
REWARD: 600 Gold

This is an identical battle to the previous one.

After this battle is a good time to leave the Pit and return to town if you are
low on health and magic, and you can save and stock up on some Basic potions as
well. Once you recruit Lemmy you are not permitted to leave so you're stuck
with whatever you've got at that point! It's easy enough to get out again since
all the soldiers have gone and the rooms are empty.

Otherwise just head down to the next floor after speaking to the leader to make
him move. Oops, third floor and there's trouble, No more soldiers and it seems
that poor Linda isn't going to get her man back. With a heavy heart continue
down to the next floor and you'll find Lemmy standing by the next set of steps.
Speak to her and she will show you her magic... She joins up at level 5, only
now you cannot leave the Pit so you're stuck with her at this level. I'd
suggest not bothering to level her up just now, in case she dies before you
manage it, and for now just use her magic to make sure everyone is at full
health. Now for the final floor and the boss awaits at the far side of the
room.

+--------------------+
| BOSS: - MAWS GREAT |
+--------------------+

RECOMMENDED LEVELS: Level 9 for Murobo and Sylvie, 8 for Lucia, 5 for Lemmy.
REWARD: 940 Gold. and you get a "shining ball" from Maws after the battle.

Maws speaks but it's just his minions in the battle. Look at the enemies if you
want, and you'll see that the UndeadPeople have slightly more Life than the
Great Mouse, so it doesn't really matter how you order the battle. However,
since Great Mouse has stronger attacks you might want to use Murobo for him,
or whoever has the highest level at this point.

PIE CHART
1. Great Mouse
2. Undead People
3. Undead People
4. Undead People

1. Great Mouse
He jumps around a bit, but you can hit him and then jump up to on to the
pillars to avoid his attacks before jumping down again to hit him. Try not to
let him touch you at all or you could end up dead!

2./3./4. UndeadPeople
These are the same as the MorguePeople you have already fought although they
are stronger and with more Life, and they can inflict Sleep. Avoid the stick
they throw and other than that stay out of their way except when attacking. Use
Fireball magic with Lemmy since her physical attacks are very weak.

AFTER THE BATTLE
Don't worry too much if anyone (yes, Lemmy) dies as you should be able to
defeat these enemies and fight your way back out of the pit without too much
trouble. You can revive them at the church in the town.

After getting the item, return to the village (yes, you have to walk all the
way back out of the Cave) and speak to Butterfly again, who seems delighted
about the Egg and tells you that there is a Butterfly fixing a boat somewhere.
(This came as a complete surprise to me, as I didn't remember hearing anything
about eggs or boats before this, but never mind.) There will be a flash to
inform you, I guess, that you have completed something and that a change has
taken place...the steps in the Pit maybe. However you must speak to the
couple in the large house before the steps out of the Pit, leading to the far
side of the mountains, will appear.

If you revisit the other houses you will get some new comments and Linda is now
taking care of her hurt man so that's a relief anyway. You can buy the
"Magician L1" staff for Lemmy which raises her attack power by +7, and stock up
on a few spare items if you want. Now return to the pit and make your way
through to the bottom floor where there will now be a set of steps which lead
up to the other hut on the far side of the hills to the north. The enemies
seem to be stronger and there are more of them on this last trip through, but
otherwise it's easy to navigate by just heading straight across each room.

LEMMY: since her level is low and her strength weak, I like to take a little
time to level her up by fighting the easier enemies close to town, so I can
revive her if necessary.

The house to the far right of the entrance has an ANTIDOTE in the left pot, and
you can find another Butterfly man, who complains that his family heirloom Jar
was stolen. If you walk all the way up to the right of the river you can find
the church and although there is nothing in the next house, the third one along
has the Elder and a woman who tells you that the Butterfly lost his Jar up
north. (Makes you wonder why someone would take a precious antique for a trip
maybe, but never mind). Speak to the man by the river and you'll find out that
in fact it was Bostoph who stole the Jar.

The fourth house at the top is the shop and you can find a free MEGA in
the rightmost pot. You have to walk back around the river as they seemed to
have forgotten to put a bridge here, but you can access the centre part of
the town over a couple of bridges, and find three people to speak to and a
large house.

Enter the house and talk to the Rich Man to hear more about the Jar and a
Ball? or maybe it's a Bell. There is also another MEGA in the pot next to the
rich man. You cannot get in the second door, as you are not yet courageous
enough to be a member of the Society, but I bet you will be soon though! Speak
to everyone in the village, including the Elder, to learn more about the
mysterious "Jar" and the thief. If you miss out on someone then you cannot
find Bostoph in the Castle.

Before leaving buy some extra items if you need them, especially the more
powerful Mega healing potions, although there is no new equipment for anyone
here, also make sure you are at full health and have saved your game.

                         Entrance

The battlefield here has four pillars so it is easy to avoid enemies' attacks,
and target the spiders. Make your way around the corridors picking up the
treasure and then head for the room (R) marked on the map where you will meet
Bostoph. He says he hasn't got the pot and you can search for it. Do so (by
checking the two pots inside the room) and then talk to him again and he
suddenly joins your group! This is confusing - he says the vase looks like the
treasure but is not, and something about a corpse not being a corpse. (Very
odd, but just go with the flow!)

(The two pots in the room are described as "free" but this doesn't mean you can
take them.) Then Lemmy says something looks barbaric. I had no idea what they
were talking about, but I guess he didn't steal the Jar and got trapped in this
castle or something. Anyhow, just leave through the opening in the room and you
are outside the castle, so return to town and find out a bit more about what is
going on.

Note that you now have five members on the team, and Bostoph has the very
useful boomerang which means that he can kill enemies from a distance, and he
also has healing and attack spells.

When you return to the town, first of all save your game and you can purchase a
better weapon for Bostoph which increases his attack by a significant amount:
+12 to his default attack. Speak to the guy in blue at the top of the town for
his frank assessment of Bostoph's character if you want a laugh. Then enter the
central area and get a weird comment from the pink lady about a large bell that
makes her scream, and another repeat character assassination from another blue
clothed guy. If you enter the left door of the large house the rich man isn't
there, but now you can enter the right hand door.

As soon as you approach the dark figure, Bostoph will shout WHAT! and you are
in a battle with five pots. One for each piece of pie.

+--------------------+
| BOSS - POT MIMIC B |
+--------------------+

RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 12 for most of the team and 8 for Lemmy and 6 for Bostoph.
(Higher would be better if you want to avoid death since
this is a well defended enemy.)

REWARD: 1790 Gold, Storm Boomerang.

PIE CHART
1. Pot Mimic B
2. Pot Mimic B
3. Pot Mimic B
4. Pot Mimic B
5. Pot Mimic B

A large pot appears at the far right of the screen and the lid opens every few
seconds to reveal a red face. This is the only part of the pot that is
vulnerable to attack. Bostoph's Boomerang is the most effective attack since
you can stay at a distance. If you touch the pot you will be damaged. This is
a tough fight to win with everyone still alive at the end.

1. Pot Mimic B
Use Bostoph for this first battle, but make sure not to let any missiles touch
him. This Pot has slightly more life than the others, and it protects itself
with electricity used at intervals. The face appears out of the pot from time
to time, and the pot itself does not take any damage. It may also fire off two
fast moving and powerful missiles which are very damaging and will kill Bostoph
if they hit. You'll know if it is about to do this as the face shows and starts
to glow purple. The best way to avoid these is DON'T jump, and just crouch
until they have gone. Then target the face with the boomerang and you should
manage to kill this one fast.

2, 3, 4, 5. Pot Mimic B.
When the face appears it sends out one red ball which moves slowly towards you.
You can attack the ball to stop it from damaging you, and must attack the face,
but be careful as the face can hurt you when it makes the ball. If you don't
destroy one ball, the pot can make another one, so there are two coming after
you at once. You can jump up and hit the face, or even stand on the pot itself
to hit the face (crouching on the edge works best to target the face) although
you will receive some damage if you do this. Magic will only be effective if it
hits the face so this means that you will have to jump if using the FireBall or
Nypeta and your characters won't have sufficient Magic Power to kill the pot
just using this weak magic, especially if some attacks miss.

With Lemmy - use Fireball and jump a little to target the face.
With Murobo destroy the ball first and then jump to hit the face.
With Lucia use the Aircutter magic on the face and destroy the balls, then if
you run out of magic, jump to hit the face.
With Sylvie, jump and hit.

AUTO OPTION
This is one battle where you might consider using the AUTO option. If you use
auto the pot can attack for variable amounts depending on levels. Lucia struck
for 15 points taking four hits to defeat her POT mimic B, and was damaged for 5
points of life for each turn, and Sylvie inflicted 17 points of damage and took
just one point damage and it took her three turns. However the weaker
characters, Lemmy and Bostoph, will be killed more or less instantly, so I
would only suggest using this option if you are on the second round of attacks
if a couple of people have died.

AFTER THE BATTLE
After the battle the rich man will appear where the dark figure was before and
talk saying Bostoph is evil and stole the pot and that someone has a Storm
Boomerang. Then you get the Storm Boomerang... ?? Very confusing, and the rich
man leaves.

WARNING!! SAVE and resurrect any dead people.
But the rabbit appears! Don't speak to the rabbit unless you are at full health
and ready to move on, because once you do then you will be transported to a
new area with no chance to save or heal.

Enter the town and if you go straight forward you will find yourself in a
church but there is no priest, which is tough if anyone is dead. Before doing
anything else buy the better equipment for Murobo and the new weapons, and then
forge everything that the forger will allow. This doesn't cost much and will
raise the attack power of many weapons. You can raise the level of weapons to
level 3, and the new weapon for Lucia, the Catclaw, can also be forged.
Actually it's not worth while forging your old weapons as the new ones you can
buy will be stronger, especially once they are forged. Seems a a bit daft to
have been given the Storm for Bostoph since the Silver can be forged to level 3
with an increase of +7 attack over the Storm, but at least it was free, and you
can sell it for 1000 Gold.

When you've done all the forging you can he'll just say "We can forge it",
though of course, what he really means is " we can't forge it". You must have
a weapon equipped for him to forge it.

Collect the items and talk to the people here. There is a CYNCENTAN in the left
pot of the first house to the left. The next house up has two people and the
woman comments about Marchin being a marital arts master. (Who's Marchin? Not a
clue, and he is never mentioned again.) Continue north over the bridge to find
the equipment shop where you can upgrade everyone that you afford. The top left
house has FLASHDOOR in the right pot. The centre top house has an old man who
remarks about a suspicious tower that appeared. The right hand top house has
BASIC in the left pot, and the ANTIDOTE is in the right pot of the house to the
right.

Go north from the town and you enter a large castle with no enemies so it's
easy enough to explore. If you enter the castle BEFORE going to the town the
person in blue will not be in the church. If you have been around town she will
mention the rabbit and a talisman and another region and then disappear. This
will trigger the appearance of the priest in the church in the town.

It's up to you if you want to get all the treasure now, since you will come
back here again. But just walk all the way to the top of the castle to meet the
King and take whatever you choose along the way.

On the ground floor walk left to find a chest with BASIC, and there is another
one at the opposite side of the floor. The top left corner has ANTIDOTE, and
the top right has MEGA. Talk to the two chaps guarding the central room if you
like, and then climb the stairs to the next floor. Walk left first to pick up a
chest with BASIC and then go right around the corridor until you reach the next
two guards. There is a room here full of bookcases but nothing else so ignore
this for now. Continue along the main passage to reach the next set of stairs
in the upper left corner.

From the stairs walk down the passage and all the way right for another chest
with ANTIDOTE. In the middle room you can talk to the King and Princess Lita
who tells you to destroy the Tower. Enemies want to destroy the eastern
village and you must protect them. (By the way, the eastern village is simply
the town next to the Castle.) Okay, so now we know what must be done next.
You MUST talk to the King and Lita in order for the boss to appear in the
tower.

LOCATION
From Castle Town walk a few steps to the north and then go west between the
trees and keep heading west until you see the tower a few steps to the north.

TOWER ENEMIES
Basilisk, Giant Spider, Dark Race, Half Dwarf, Killer Sasoli, Lewdcleck, Mommy
Cat, Morgue People, Orc Fighter, Skull Soldier, Undead, Wood Dwarf

Be careful fighting the Lewdcleck with Lemmy or Bostoph, because one touch
from it can kill either of them. In fact it would be a good plan to spend a bit
of time levelling up both of them, at least until they are over level 10, and
Bostoph will get the useful "Energy" spell at level 9 which enables him to
revive anyone who dies, providing of course that he's not the one that's dead!

WARNING!
The Tower disappears after you beat the boss.

NOTES
There is no access to the area you can glimpse to the far right, and
since the tower disappears after you beat the boss, there's no way of finding
out any more about these rooms. Seems a bit odd to me, but despite a thorough
search for secret tunnels or hidden switches I could find nothing.

| BOSS - MESSENGER CARD |
+-----------------------+

RECOMMENDED LEVELS : 14. Only the higher level characters and Bostoph are
likely to survive this battle unless you are agile at
jumping the balls. Even Murobo can die at level 13 if he
                     gets hit.

REWARD: 2150 gold

PIE CHART
1. Messenger Axe
2. Messenger Axe
3. Messenger Axe
4. Messenger Axe
5. Messenger Axe

All five forms have the same amount of Life and they use the same attacks.
White hands will approach slowly along the floor so destroy them first. Then he
fires off a double yellow ball of light. You cannot jump over him so the only
way to go is to avoid the attacks and hit him directly. These balls are fired
from the hands, and he might fire off three of them fairly quickly. Then he
releases the hands which come towards you. Don't try to destroy the hands or
the balls as they will hurt you, so jump to avoid them. The yellow balls can
kill even Murobo! If you approach him directly and hit him then his damaging
light things don't seem to get a chance to be fired off and you can hit them
directly.

Lemmy is pretty useless in this battle and can easily be killed by the hands
if they touch her. In my game she was only at level 10 and with no decent
spells to use against the enemy, so your best plan is to use her more powerful
forged weapon, the Soldier at level 3 and keep hitting the enemy.

AFTER THE BATTLE
After you win, he will threaten you, (are they really all children?), and he
says that the tower was the gate to God's world and the demon seeks to rule
from here... Anyhow, you've stopped that dastardly plan and destroyed the
tower, which disappears and you are all back outside with no sign of the tower.
Walk back to town (to the east) and report back to the King.

13. K I N G ' S C A S T L E A G A I N ...................................V13
===============================================================================

This next part of the game involves a lot of walking back and forth in the
King's Castle in order to trigger the next stage, but there are no battles for
a while.

RECRUITING LITA
Return to the Castle after the battle in the Tower and make your way to the top
floor to speak with the King, (who is on his own this time and tells Murobo to
guard the nation) and then go back to the chapel on the ground floor of the
castle. There is nothing that tells you do this, and it's one of those times in
the game where the next step is not at all obvious.

In the chapel the blue robed Goddess will appear again and Murobo says he
couldn't destroy the tower, (though I just thought that's what we did...)
Anyhow you're told to power up more, and she gives Murobo the Goddess Talisman.
Now return to speak to the king again, and Princess Lita will join your merry
band. She's waiting at the entrance to the kings' chambers and you must speak
to her to recruit her. Then Lemmy will leave (you can only have 5 people in
your team at one time) and can be found again in the library on the second
floor of the castle. Talk to her and now she knows something (probably as a
result of reading all those books) and tells you that the magician has an item
we need. What magician?!?

GOING WALKABOUT - AN OPTION
I must admit that I don't really understand this section of the game at all,
and it's only thanks to Darkelf's walkthrough that I was able to navigate these
events the first time I played. Also it didn't help that I had been to the
desert town and Holn before playing through this scenario. However you could do
this too if you want to explore and level Lita up a bit. If you leave the
town and walk south, you will return to the world map and the stone circle.
Then travel north for the desert or west to find the western stone circle and
Holn, where you can buy some better equipment as well. However the enemies on
the route to Holn are very tough and this can be a bit taxing at this stage of
the game. In fact you can reach all the other towns as well, if you really
wanted to and manage to stay alive long enough.

BATTLE!
Head back to town and get Lita's weapon sharpened, although there is no
additional equipment to buy for her here. Save your game and then track down
this magician who is hiding out in the top right house of the town. It seems
he's the other demon's younger brother and out for revenge! (He mentions
someone called Pespa who we are supposed to consider precious but I haven't a
clue who this is...maybe another weird translation error.) Then there is a
scene in the town where everyone is turned to stone in a flash. Your party are
safe from this fate presumably because of the Goddess Talisman, or maybe the
brother just wanted a scrap.

+----------------------+
| BOSS - MESSENGER AXE |
+----------------------+

RECOMMENDED LEVELS : 15 for Murobo, Sylvie, Lucia; 9/10 for Bostoph and Lita.
REWARD: 1570 Gold.

PIE CHART
1. Messenger Axe - 2 life beads + 5
2. Thief
3. Thief
4. Thief
5. Thief

1. Messenger Axe
This one is less dangerous than the last boss, since although he has the same
white hands they only fire off small balls of light which are very easy to
dodge. He will appear and disappear at various points of the battle screen and
the main problem is to avoid running into him by mistake.

However you can track his movements by watching to see where the hands appear,
and he will arrive floating above them after they have fired off the missiles.
He floats about half way up the screen so you must jump to hit him. If you keep
still when the hands send off the balls of light they will miss you. There are
8 in total and they fly off in X formation in pairs.

2/3/4/5 Thief
The Thief appears on the ground and will also disappear from time to time. He
fires off four white tornadoes in X formation after he reappears, although
these are not very damaging, and this is when you can attack him as he stops
moving for a few seconds. You can also jump over his head if you plan to attack
him from behind or just to avoid him when he moves. If you jump to avoid the
lower tornado you will hit the higher ones if you jump too high, so be careful.
You can outrun them though by dashing to the far side of the battle screen.

Try to keep Bostoph alive in case someone dies, as you won't be able to revive
anyone until you reach the next town, assuming he has his Energy spell which
he gets at level 8.

AFTER THE BATTLE
After this the Messenger Axe disappears to continue his work, I assume.
Everyone is stoned including the innkeeper, forger and shopkeeper. Even
the people inside the castle are stone, including Lemmy, but you can talk to
her for some more cryptic dialogue and this is essential to trigger the next
part of the quest to restore everyone to life.

There is only one thing to do after all this, and that's to leave town, and
find somewhere where the bodies aren't cold. Walk south from town to reach the
world map and then make your way north to the desert area and the town of FORK.

TREASURE
Basic, Basic, Basic, Antidote, Cyncentan, Mega, StoneFlower.

You are aiming for the bottom right tower here, so just follow the tiles up
from the entrance and continue to the next tile free area, and then go right as
far as you can. You will end up facing north. Turn to the right and step onto
the three tiles that lead to the right hand wall. When you reach this point
walk down the edge of the wall and allow the next set of tiles to move you
down. Then walk down to the bottom right set of steps, and head up here to open
a chest with "StoneFlower". To get back to the entrance just walk up and left
and you will be taken to the centre area and the tiles that return you to the
entrance path.

All three ground floor chests contain BASIC. Go up the bottom left stairs for a
chest with ANTIDOTE, and the top left for a chest with CYNCENTAN. The top right
second floor has a chest with MEGA.

RETURN TO CASTLE TOWN
Now leave the desert and walk back down to the southern stone circle and back
to Castle Town. Enter the castle and proceed directly forwards into the church
where a blue robed woman will appear - the GODDESS! She will heal your wounds
and say thanks before she disappears, and you'll find that everyone has been
restored.

Return upstairs to the library to find a warm and whole Lemmy who now
replaces Sylvie - she walks out of the room, and you don't know where or why.
(However, I was pleased to discover that she just returns home and you can find
her again and even have a little chat.) Your party of Murobo, Lucia, Bostoph,
Lemmy and Lita is now set and there will be no more changes.

Speak to the king again to get more instructions about some tower, and Lita
will get her father's blessing. The guy in blue at the town entrance will say
there is Mysterious Medicine in Holn. Don't know exactly why we need it but
there you go. Before leaving make sure to stock up on a few FlashDoors.

NOTE: the enemies along the route to Holn are powerful and often come in pairs
so you might want to spend some time fighting easier enemies near the Castle or
Fork before venturing forth. Also, there will be a battle as soon as you arrive
and you might want everyone to be alive. So long as you don't use Bostoph's
spells and keep him alive, you can use his Energy spell to revive anyone.

west again, and in between the mountains you will find another town. Keep to

When you have completed the previous story with the stone people, Desert
town and Temple, come here to be greeted at the entrance by a merchant. When
you say that you need the medicine he tells you it is gone, but he'll offer
something to drink. Only one person can accept. I chose Lemmy the first time
through, as she was the weakest, but this is NOT a good plan as she will end up
having very low HP. It's best to choose the highest level character with the
best defence, such as Murobo or Lucia. The merchant then walks away and some
enemies appear.

RECOMMENDED LEVELS: - Any.

PIE CHART

5. Thief

YASIPH will chat for a bit, but in fact these enemies are just Thiefs and all
identical. You will see that the character who drank the "medicine" has very
high stats with 7 beads of Life so there is no way you can lose this battle,
even if everyone else messes up somehow, which is unlikely. (The boosted status
effect will disappear at the end of the fight.) Even at level 10 Lemmy was able
to kill a Thief with physical attacks so you really should have no problems
here.

After the battle you can explore the town of Holn, buy better equipment and
items, and save your game. People will keep saying they are in pain or that
the merchant has the best medicine. You need some for your now sick team-mate
whose HP will now be very low. In fact, a "Vasiph" can be found at the top left
corner of the village, and in one of the top houses, so it's just another
generic, and probably oddly translated, name. The weapon and arms shop sells
some useful but expensive stuff, so upgrade Lemmy at least. (I found I had
plenty of cash for everything, but if you're a bit short buy the armour and
leave the weapons since they are less powerful than the Level 3 forged
weapons.)

You can find a MEGA in the right pot of one house, and an ANTIDOTE in the left
pot of the house next to the church, as well as another "Vasiph". The house
next to the Inn has nothing but two pink people, and the child will mention the
North Mountain Cave, and the woman names the town if you visit here before the
events of the Castle Town and Fork.

To find the cave walk north from Holn and then west at the first gap in the
mountains. Then turn north following the contours of the mountains to your
right and keep heading north west until you see a gap to your right. Thread
through the narrow mountain passes to the east where you can see a man with a

WORLD MAP ENEMIES
Deathcleck, Dark Race, Fraught Jelly, Half Dwarf, Killer Sasoli, Kyouna,

NOTE: You will need the additional defence from the armour for the stronger
enemies here, especially as they usually appear in pairs. Head the team with
your strongest fighter who is likely to be Murobo at this point, and take care
of your injured ally. Heal poison as soon as it occurs and reserve Bostoph's
magic for his Energy revival spell.

If the man with the turban isn't there then you have missed some dialogue in
the town, OR not yet completed the previous events. Make sure to talk to
everyone especially the two females who will tell you about the merchant.

+---------------------+
| BOSS - FLOWER GHOST |
+---------------------+

RECOMMENDED LEVELS: Murobo and Lucia 16 + and the others 12+
REWARDS: 2550 Gold

PIE CHART
1. Flower Ghost
2. Flower Ghost
3. Flower Ghost
4. Flower Ghost
5. Flower Ghost

This is a large pale purple creature who awaits in the boss room. It won't do
anything until you approach it to find the medicine. It appears as one enemy
but has different attacks for the different parts. The order of the attacks
seemed to vary each time I fought the Flower Ghost, so I think there is a fair
degree of randomness about the attacks it uses for the different battles.

The first part has two beads of Life + 10 and the rest have two beads + 5.
Only Murobo can withstand a direct hit from the flower, at least if any of
your team are at lower levels such as 10 or 11.

THE THREE FORMS OF ATTACK
1. A long necked flower head will emerge from the main body that sits to the
far right of the screen. It will move up and down and eventually fire off a
flower missile. The neck and head cannot be damaged so you need to approach the
body and hit it hard when the head is high above the ground. Don't let the head
touch you though. This form might also cause the three spikes to appear and it
seems to be random.

If using Bostoph this is simple as all he needs to do is get within striking
distance of the body and two hits from the boomerang should be sufficient to
destroy the Flower Ghost.

2. This one will shoot out a purple head directly from the body and straight at
your character. This is hard to avoid since it's virtually a stream of fire and
so you cannot simply jump out of the way. (Lemmy died when hit with this.)
The head will return to the body on the rebound so be careful to jump again!

However, there are in fact three small balls and one head so you can jump to
avoid the balls and then watch the head and jump when it moves back. The balls
will disappear - they stay still for a moment or two and then retreat when the
head returns - it kind of picks them up on the way back to the main body. At
this point walk forwards to the body and slash it!

3. The main body seems to do nothing but there is a trembling sound and the
ground shakes and three spikes will emerge from the middle left ground and kill
anyone who is standing there! Run forwards and hit the Flower and kill it
before it produces more spikes.

Even Lemmy can just use physical attacks on the body. .

AFTER THE BATTLE
Talk to merchant who now enters the room after you defeat the boss, and he will
restore the affected person's status, and tell you that this monster can create
antidote. However he will not restore your full Life so make sure to heal up
before leaving. He then disappears and now you have to find your way out of the
cave. However, if you heeded my shopping advice in Castle Town, you should have
a FlashDoor, so use this now to escape the dungeon and you will be back on the
world map at the entrance to the cave. You don't have to return to the town, so
walk north instead of south, and you will leave the map and end up north of the
Stone Circle that took you to Holn.

Now walk east along the narrow strip of land, following the contours of the map
north, and you will find another Stone Circle. Enter this and from the arrival
point walk down a couple of steps to the town you can see. This is Ruvelio.

The first old man gives you the name of the town.

Walk down the area and speak to an old lady comments about Mount Carmyu and
mountains. (It's worth while getting here early for the better equipment.)
There is a "Butterfly" in the house with the ANTIDOTE who will tell you that
there is a boat in Narsa, though he doesn't tell you how to get there. The
house with the MEGA in the right pot, has two people who will be more helpful:
Narsa is south! The other house is completely empty so don't bother with that.
After talking with everyone you now know that the boat is essential to reach
God's Tower where the Demon enemy can be defeated.

As usual, buy the good gear, especially for your lower level characters, and
you might want to take a trip to Carmyu now for the additional armour sold
there if you can afford it. It's due east from Ruvelio, and you can explore the
adjacent Demon's Temple to pick up a Mega potions, though it's hardly worth the
bother, and there are no enemies to fight.

If your levels are less than 15 for any character, or if you are having any
trouble surviving world map battles, you might want to level up in the woods
close to Ruvelio since fighting in woods is easier than out in the open. This
will also help if you are short of cash for all the new equipment and weapons.
When you are ready to move on walk west from Ruvelio and then south to find
Narsa.

NOTE: The groups of enemies around this area of the world map seemed to be
fairly consistent and so this is a good area to level up Lemmy, Lita and
Bostoph to at least level 15. This collection gives 172 experience and 1600
Gold every time for five people, and 860 exp if you just fight with one person
(killing everyone else off by sinking in the Desert or by poison) though I
would only recommend this strategy after you have a stronger team later in the
game.

The Butterfly man in the house with the BASIC (in the right pot) will give you
instructions to go to the Magician's House and find wood to repair the boat.
An ANTIDOTE is in the left pot house next to the Elder's house and IF you have
done everything you should have done there will also be a ghostly woman waiting
to talk to you. She is the Magician's daughter, and instructs you to get
Sakanfish for his cat. (You will also glean various odd hints from other people
in the town about a Golem.) You don't need to talk to them all, but you MUST
buy the Sakanafish.

Buy the Holy Staff for Lemmy as this is very strong and will help her smash
most enemies just using physical attacks, and the Robe is her best armour.
This is when you will need plenty of cash for all these new weapons and the
best armour for everyone.

1. Golem

He will make stones to attack you, but you cannot hurt him at all. There is
only one way to defeat him - use the fish!

As soon as you equip the Sakanafish a message will appear to say you got the
Fish and the battle ends. Only the person with the fish will get experience so
it's a good idea to let the weakest person do the deed as everyone else will
die if you try to battle. Speak to the ghost who appears and you will get WOOD.
Carry on along the short passage to the left of the room, and climb the steps
to emerge outside again.

Now return to Narsa and talk to Butterfly in the top left second house and
he'll tell that the boat will be repaired, but first you must do something
about Carmyu which is the next destination. He won't have the boat ready for
you until you have dealt with everything at Carmyu.

You will only meet someone here if you have the WOOD item. Shitsuji meets you
at the entrance, and tempts Lemmy with an item called Magical Robe. Now she
worships the Demon! She leaves the party and walks into the Temple on her own.

ALTAR ROOM
Your target now is the Altar Room on the ground floor, but you cannot reach it
directly, and must navigate the top left stairs, (C). You can also find some
additional items if you investigate the other stairs. The stairs labelled XS
are secret, and will not appear until you have completed the events in the
Altar Room.

Once you reach this room someone will talk some nonsense about recruiting
soldiers...and that recruits must pass the test of the Goddess which is to go
through Lereef. (None of this makes any sense at all.) After receiving these
garbled instructions someone else in a soldier's uniform called "Test Book" now
turns up. You must speak to him directly and apparently his name is Hash and he
is being controlled by the Demon. Anyhow, keep talking to him, and eventually
he will ask you to find an item which will save him, and he won't be forced to
fight Murobo. (The other chap disappears - so maybe he was the Demon's
recruiting sergeant?)

After this confusing interlude, walk back to the ground floor using the same
route via the second floor, and when you go all the way to the right you'll see
some steps have appeared which lead to the basement. Walk up the corridor and
open the chest for the PrettyMirrorHolyWater, and then fight the boss (after
some more odd dialogue).

Three people appear after you take the item from the chest: Demon Book, Lemmy,
and Hash. But if you think the Demon will let Hash go easily you're mistaken -
there has to be at least one battle in here!

+----------------------+
| BOSS = DEVIL EMPEROR |
+----------------------+
There will be no chance to select the order for this battle but none of them
are too much of a problem. I'd put Lita with Lemmy though, since she is more
vulnerable to attack than Bostoph.

RECOMMNEDED LEVELS: Murobo and Lucia - around 20, and 13/15 for the other two.
REWARD: 1450 GOLD

PIE CHART
1. Mouse Great
2. Devil Emperor
3. Lemmy
4. Nothing
5. Examiner Hash

1. Mouse Great - this is the same as the normal enemy.

2. Devil Emperor (three beads of life) This is a blue floating enemy that
fires a single missile which you can avoid by crouching. It will appear and
disappear, but is easy enough to defeat.

3. Lemmy (three beads) Nothing seems to work on her and she uses a single
missile attack and the lava on the ground one. She also appears and disappears
like the DE, except she is pale in colour. You must use the item you just got!

Although you will have picked up the item, it does not appear in the inventory:
in fact it is invisible! It will be at the bottom of the list of items and you
can select to use it, just like any other item, with the cursor. As soon as you
return to the battle screen there will be a message to say that the team member
and Lemmy "got HolyWater".

4. Nothing.

5. Examiner Hash.
This is a skeleton and requires just a couple of strikes from any weapon.

AFTER THE BATTLE
Speak to Lemmy and she's back in the team immediately. Speak to Hash and he is
apparently near the end and well...more confusing stuff. Apparently Bostoph
and Lemmy are a couple. Anyhow it seems as if you are supposed to do something
else to save Hash, but in fact that is the end of this section, and you don't
have to do anything else. So just insist on letting him die and return to
Narsa. Yes, and you have to walk. Make sure to check the Order for battle after
the events in the Temple as you'll find it has changed after Lemmy leaving the
party.

After this battle and during the trek back to Narsa I suggest you spend some
time raising cash for the best equipment and levels so that Bostoph and Lucia
are at at least level 20 and the other three at level 15, though you probably
will already be higher than this.

LOCATION
Now walk all the way back to Narsa, and visit the second house to the right at
the top and speak to Butterfly who will say that the boat will be ready soon.
In fact this means that it IS ready!

PLANNING
Stay at the inn in Narsa (600 Gold for all) and check your equipment and items
because you won't be able to buy anything for a while. You might consider
stocking up on Flashdoors (sold in Castle town) as well as making sure that
Lita has all the Maiden armour, Murabo all the Battle equipment, and Lemmy
her Robe as well as all the other good equipment you can afford. By this stage
in the game you have access to all the three towns: Narsa, Carmyu and Ruvelio
and so you can quickly walk back and forth between them, fighting a few battles
and gaining sufficient funds for all this stuff. Everyone should have their
best armour by now as well as some of the best weapons.

THE FIRST BOAT TRIP
Save your game too, before embarking by boat, and finally exit Narsa by the
western opening and the boat will be waiting at the edge of the water. Sail
south (or any direction in fact, as you can't get anywhere else for now). There
will be a scene near the island with a hut to the west of the desert area, and
you will land on a desert island with a dungeon in the middle.

DESERT ISLAND ENEMIES
Pumpkin Ghost, Orc Fighter, Basilisk, Mouse Great, Cockatrice, Thief, Dal
SLime, Half Dwarf, Kyuona, Mirror Cat, Basilisk, Kyouna, Fraught Jelly.

The floor is slippy but there are pillars at either side of the battlefield.
Enter this dungeon and search around to find the three key items you require to
repair the boat: Cloth, Stick and Plank. One key item is found on each floor,
and you need all three of them. They are not in chests, but lying on the ground
and just visible. There are only a couple of minor items which you can pick up
on the way. There are lots of connecting stairs to the different floors, but
these are the routes to follow, and if you were really in a rush you could use
the Flashdoors to exit the dungeon after obtaining each item.

WORLD MAP
http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/nes/file/581763/54042

NAVIGATION ON THE WORLD MAP
Now off you go exploring! Board your boat and head east through the narrow
waterway north of the pink desert, OR go directly north from the Desert Island,
heading straight for the Stone Circle and you will end up back outside Narsa
again. There are no enemies while you are on board the boat. You can land
wherever you like and the boat will stay where you left it.

You can revisit places to pick up any forgotten items or buy new equipment. You
can even take a trip back to the Cat People village and catch up on old times
with Sylvie. Head south from desert and sail directly into the Stone Circle
which takes you to just a few steps north of Sylvie's place. You will have to
return to a town to save your game as there are no more towns and no more inns
until you reach the final dungeon.

However, once you have finished any business, the next destination is a group
of islands. One has a cottage and two have huts, but if you try to land on the
largest island the water will push the boat back, and so there is no access
here just yet.

LOCATION OF PIRATES
If you can't see the world map then one route to these islands is to sail north
past the desert and then west, hugging the coastline until you reach the far
side, and then then sail south along the coast and west again where you will
find a corner of the map with lots of trees. From here sail due north and you
end up at a small island with one hut and nothing else. Disembark and enter the
hut to speak to an old man who tells you to look for a group of islands and
that you need the staff of Shooting Stars. This is held by some pirates who
are found inside the cottage on the island just north of the old man. If you
return here again after defeating the pirates he will also tell you that, when
the ocean current stops, the path to God's World will open, but that you need
something to break down the entrance.

+------------------+
| BOSS - 5 PIRATES |
+------------------+

RECOMMENDED LEVELS: Murobo and Lucia 22 + and the others 19/20.
REWARD: Gold 2250

There is a battle with 5 pirates each of whom has three beads of life.

To begin with each one will jump up a little like the Mouse Great, but after
that all they do is hit with a sword and walk fast back and forth within a
small area of the battlefield. If you jump over their heads and go to the far
side of the screen, then they will jump again to get close to you.

After winning this battle you get the Staff! You can also chat to the pirates
again, but they don't say anything useful. Sail close to the moving current and
use the Staff from your inventory and you can now land on the largest of the
islands, but you cannot progress any further just yet. Remember what the old
man told, you need something to break down the barrier.

LOCATION
This island can be found either by sailing north or south (since the world is
round!) See the world map to pinpoint the location. Alternatively, from the
group of islands head west about five squares and then north and you will stop
at a small island with lots of trees and a hut.

ENEMIES
Pumpkin Ghost, Orc Fighter, Mouse Great, Cockatrice, Basilisk, Half Dwarf,
Mirror Cat, Kyuona, Dal Slime, Fraught Jelly, Skull Soldier, Thief, DeathCleck,
El Race.

Enter the dungeon and find the key item, the uiPretty. Another odd translation
and I have not a clue what it's supposed to mean, but given that we already
used a PrettyMirrorHolyWater, I guess there is some connection. Make sure to
open the treasure chest with the Aurora weapon for Lucia which involves quite a
long trek down to the second floor using the top left stairs (B). Again you
could use a FlashDoor to escape from this point and return to pick up the
uiPretty. You are likely to gain quite a few levels in this dungeon which is no
bad thing.

LOCATION
Sail a long way to the east from the island with the old man's cave and there
is another island, larger and with lots of mountains and a hut. You can also
find it by sailing due west from the western island where the ocean won't let
you enter, or north from the desert and then east.

ENEMIES
Half Dwarf, Kyouna, Mirror Cat, Fraught Jelly. Mouse Great, Dal Slime,
SkullSoldier, Basilisk, Cockatrice, Orc Fighter, Pumpkin Ghost.

The real purpose of this optional dungeon is to find a better weapon for Lita,
although you can also find a three other items and, of course, gain more levels
in preparation for the final dungeon.

27. G O D ' S W O R L D ...............................................V27
===============================================================================

LOCATION
The entrance to God's World is found on the island that you could not access
because the water pushed the boat away. It's the largest island in the group of
islands with the old man's hut and where you fought the pirates. Select the
item, "SHOOTING STAR" from your inventory when close to the area and you will
see a message to say "The ocean stopped!" Now that the water is calm you can
reach the island and the entrance to the dungeons.

PREPARATION
Ensure that everyone has their best armour and weapons, and stock up on a
couple of Cycentans to replenish Magic Power, and a couple of Miracles if you
wish, although there is a chapel and there will be a chance to save again and
heal at an inn along the way, but there are no more shops.

POINT OF NO RETURN
You cannot access the dungeon until you have found the UIPRETTY item.
(Otherwise you simply get a message about the power of destruction which lies
in a small shrine, so presumably that's a hint that you must find this
item.inside another dungeon on another island. Once you have it, then "Use" the
uiPretty item from your inventory with Lucia. She's the ONLY one that it works
with, and I have no idea why this is, but that's the way of it. You'll be given
the option to use the uiPretty with anyone, and after selecting Lucia, and
getting the odd message - I guess we all fly off to God's World - walk forwards
towards the dungeon entrance, and you'll be in the new location.

--------------------
GOD'S WORLD DUNGEONS
--------------------
Approach the hut at the right on the island and this is a cave entrance. Each
subsequent island is the basically the same, and they are all in the middle of
a desert area that acts like the sea. You cannot step off the tiny bit of land.
I have listed all the islands separately and the dungeons because it can be a
bit confusing to know precisely which one you're on. (I found myself heading
the wrong way more than once.)

ENEMIES
Half Dwarf, Thief, Orc Fighter, Pumpkin Ghost, LewdCleck, Dark Race, Fraught
Jelly, Royal Magiro, Kyuona, KillerSasoli, MouseGreat, Deathcleck, Dark Race.

Most enemies appear in pairs: two Lewdclecks together floating high up and
firing off their four missiles are not that easy to kill if you don't have a
Boomerang! Make sure to heal up after every battle, just in case. The battle
floor is slippery with pillars as in most cave type dungeons.

RECOMMENDED LEVELS
To start this dungeon and ensure that you will have no problems with any
enemies, Murobo and Lucia should be at level 25 and the other three at level
22/3. It is possible to manage with lower levels than this, but it partly
depends on your equipment and your fighting prowess!

ENEMIES
Mouse Great, Dal Slime, Royal Magiro, Orc Fighter, Pumpkin Ghost, Cockatrice,
Fraught Jelly, Dark Race, LewdCleck, Basilisk.

Follow the stairs (marked with letters) to the top floor where the Goddess
will give everyone a one time only full heal. There are no pillars on these
battle floors, so it's just normal stuff. Note that you just need to head to
the right on Floor 1, and the stairs that take you up to the third floor are at
the lower left corner of Floor 2.

Now there is a BIG problem with Floors 3 and 4 in that all your controls are
reversed. I don't know if this was present in the original game just to provide
an additional challenge, or a glitch.due to emulation, but be warned! You could
change the controls to adjust, or just put up with it. Up is down and vice
versa, attack is jump, and jump is attack. Right is left, and left is right.
It's opposites day!

Although there appears to be no-one here, as soon as you move towards the main

careful since there are still random encounters on this floor, and this is a

| BOSS - CODRA B |
+----------------+

RECOMMENDED LEVELS: 25 for Murobo and Lucia, and 22/3 for the rest.
REWARD: 3500 Gold, but there's no chance to spend it on anything!

PIE CHART
1. Codra B
2. Codra B
3. Codra B
4. Codra B
5. Codra B

Approach the painting on the far wall and it will come to life. They all speak
some rather garbled phrases which basically mean that they will all be there to
help, after which Murobo will say "let's go!" and the battle commences.

As usual with boss battles you will be able to change the order if you like,
but if you LOOK at the enemy, each part has the same amount of LIFE:
7 beads of health plus 4. However each piece has slightly different attacks.
My levels were: Muro: 32, Bostoph 28, Lita 25, Lucia 32, and Lemmy 21 for one
game and 26 for Murobo and Lucia and 23 for the rest, in my second game.

1. Top of the Pie
The first form will fire off two flame balls from the head. One will go
straight towards your character and hit if you don't jump over it, and the
other goes diagonally up to the far left top of the screen. You will know when
they are about to be released as the head starts to glow. After a three of four
of these the head rises up and fires off three fire balls.

If you get too close to the head you will be hurt, and if you go to the right
of it, it can turn to fire the balls at you from this different angle. If you
are not careful and run into the body and get hit by a fireball then even
Murobo can die rather quickly. Just charge for the body and avoid the head.

2. Left of the Pie
In its second form the head can rise up high and make a screeching noise. Four
small platforms fall down at the left side of the screen but it is easy to jump
to avoid these, (they will hurt if you don't) and then the head will lower
itself and fire a straight missile at you, and again it will glow just before
doing this.

You cannot damage the head, but when it has fired off the 4 platform things it
stops dead in the air exposing the main body, so just move to the right and hit
it or fire off magic at it.

3. Bottom of the Pie
The third form will begin with waving the head up and down and then when
level with your character it fires the actual head at you! Be careful when you
jump to avoid this as the head then travels back on the same trajectory to
rejoin the neck and it can hit you on the rebound. It's best to crouch rather
than jump. You can hit the head when it turns purple and is about to fire and
this will stop the missile. Bostoph is best for this.

Again charge at the body for the kill. (Lucia can destroy it in two punches!)

4. Bottom Right of the Pie
The head starts by going up and down and then it will make a rumbling noise
and two parts of the floor will disappear. One is just inside the left of the
screen and the other just under the head when at it's lowest point. Then it
will go up and down and change colour before firing off a powerful jagged flame
type missile. After a couple of these is will replace the broken floor and then
make some new holes.

You can hurt this head but again you really must target the main body. I found
this the hardest part to defeat when using Lemmy so I would recommend Bostoph
for this one since he doesn't have to get near the enemy.

5. Top Right of the Pie: The final form
By the time you reach the last form the head and neck changes appearance with
the head opening the mouth and showing a large tongue. (At least, I assume
that's what it is.) Again it starts with moving up and down, but this time it
can move to the very top of the screen. At about half way up it fires off a
flat missile a bit the same as in the second form, though this can easily miss
you completely and sail over your head.

While it is at the highest point run in and hit the body, but be careful as it
can turn the head and target you.

If anyone dies then at the end of the first round of battles you will have the
option to change the order. Check to see who is left and which part of the
Codra remain, and change the order of play if you want. Obviously the remaining
parts will be where anyone died, so adjust your battle order accordingly.

----------------
AFTER THE BATTLE
----------------
The translated text after this battle makes even less sense than the stuff
before it, since it all sounds a bit as though it could have been said at the
start of the game.

The Goddess says it is now time for you to save us, and that you need to equip
weapons and armour before they appear in battle. (I guess some post game
advice about changing appearance, but the translation remains confusing until
the very end!)

Watch the credits and the final scenes...

THE END!

4. C H A R A C T E R L E V E L S .....................................*LEVEL
===============================================================================

You will see these stats increase when a character levels up. The details of
current experience, with the amount required for the next level, is visible on
the character "Strength" screen.

LIFE = Life Points
MGP = Magic Power - used for spells
STR = Strength (for physical attacks)
HLTH = Defence
EXP = Experience required for the next level.

The first line of these tables shows that character's joining level, and the
maximum level is 32. Sylvie's levels are low because she leaves the party
before the end of the game so I have not been able to MAX out her levels.

7. E N E M Y L I S T ...................................................*ENS
===============================================================================

Bosses are detailed in the main text.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BASILISK
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a large blue enemy and it will walk towards you and use a flame
thrower type attack from time to time.

Notes: This one is tough so be careful with lower level characters. It will
require two attacks of magic or one or two physical attacks depending on your
level. If you are using magic then act quickly as it moves towards you quite
quickly and since it is larger than some enemies it is harder to jump over.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COCKATRICE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a bird that repeatedly swoops and dives starting from the far side of
the screen, and it will follow you after that initial attack.

Notes: the best way to defeat this bird is to jump high, and slash at it
before it has a chance to dive at you. You can also back away from it when it
dives and attack when it is lower.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DAL SLIME
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This lilac coloured blob often appear in pairs. It bounces up and down and
usually stays at one side of the screen.

Notes: If you touch this slime there is a good chance that you will be
poisoned so stay away as it jumps around and then target it with one hit.
Crouching can help with hitting it while it's on the ground.

Status Effect: Poison

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DARK RACE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A dark red robed enemy that often appears with Deathclecks. It creates
bubbling lava from the ground that moves along and rises three times. This can
make you fall asleep for a few seconds.

Notes: this enemy is easy to kill if you attack it directly but that is not
easy to do since you can end up asleep. Try and jump over it and attack from
behind whilst avoiding touching it or the lava. Also you can just jump
over the lava and hit it directly from the front.

Status Effect: Sleep

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DEATHCLECK
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A floating mage who will appear and disappear and can float high, nearly to the
top of the screen. He uses an electricity based ground attack, as well as
firing off four missiles in different directions. Inflicts confused.

Notes: Avoid the missiles which fly off in the directions of an X, and jump to
hit it, or use high moving magic.

Status Effect: Confusion

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DOCRO SASOLI
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A red scorpion like creature mostly found in the desert. It emerges from the
ground to attack, and then will disappear and move somewhere else underground.
It can inflict poison.

Notes It is not hard to kill if you can hit it, but the fact that it goes
underground makes it tricky, especially if it is not alone. Beware of staying
too long on the ground level if you are fighting in the desert as you will
sink into the sand and die!

Status Effect: Poison

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EL RACE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A green robed figure that floats and casts a sleep spell. It fires a single
missile.

Notes: Stay away from it and jump to avoid the missile and then attack from
the back or use magic against it.

Status Effect: Sleep

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EVIL SLIME
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A small blue blob that moves along the ground and will fire a small missile
once after moving from one side of the screen to the other.

Notes: This enemy can poison you if you get close or hit by its missile. It's
easy to jump to avoid the dart and then one hit should kill it. It's often
best to crouch down (just press the down button on the Directional Pad) to hit
it as it's small.

Status Effect: Poison

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FRAUGHT JELLY
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A small jellyfish that fires off single missiles which can poison. The missiles
can fire at any angle. It moves slowly and will start above the ground but can
move lower and higher. It often appears in pairs.

Notes: Beware of the poison from this enemy and try to hit it when it is
level with you, or jump and slash down. You can wait for it to approach and
then slash it.

Status Effect: Poison

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GIANT SPIDER
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a big spider and sends out three webs after dropping down from the
ceiling, and then it stays still for a few seconds. After this the webs
disappear and the spider will move back up to the ceiling and choose a new
spot. It normally moves from one side of the screen to the other, and then back
again. It mainly appears inside cave-type dungeons and buildings.

Notes: If you touch the webs you will be unable to attack the spider. The best
way to kill it is to wait until it starts to fall from the ceiling and jump at
it before it has a chance to release the webs. Alternatively find a place above
ground and wait for it to drop and then slash at it. Auto battle works well on
the spider as it cannot make the webs and its attacks do little damage.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HALF DWARF
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A blue dwarf with an axe that drops liquid to attack you. The liquid causes
three separate drops to form on the ground and these move towards you.

Notes: Jump to avoid the attacks and attack him from the back if you can.
Alternatively use magic from a distance.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KILLER SASOLI
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A red scorpion that burrows underground and reappears at random places.

Notes: This enemy is only vulnerable when above ground. Do a downwards attack
as it starts to emerge, or crouch and target it when it appears.

Status Effect: Poison, Stun

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KYUONA
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A white robed mage enemy that floats halfway up the screen. It disappears and
uses a small whirlwind to move from one side of the screen to the other, and
when it finally stops still it will fire three crescent shaped missiles in one
direction. It usually stops in the central area of the battlefield, but not
always.

Notes: The whirlwind can hurt if you are touched by it, so one way to avoid
this is to crouch while it is doing its disappearing act. However you CAN kill
it while it's doing this if you are lucky to hit it at the right time.
Otherwise, duck to avoid the whirlwind, and just wait for it to stop moving,
usually in the centre of the screen, and then hit it while it is firing its
missiles. There is enough time for the Kyuona to fire at you and then you can
jump and hit it before it disappears once more.

COMMENT - possibly the most awkward and difficult enemy in the game. When you
are stronger, you could use Auto battle for a faster win.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LEWDCLECK
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A cloaked figure who appears on the ground to begin with, although it can move
above the ground. Like the DeathCleck this enemy fires off missiles to four
corners of an X, and will appear and disappear randomly.

Notes: Since this enemy doesn't float up so high it is easier to target than
the Deathcleck. Stay your distance to avoid the missiles and don't get too
close or you risk getting stunned by the electricity it also uses which can
cause sleep.

Status Effect: Sleep

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MIRROR CAT
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A strange figure looking a bit like an upright tortoise, it will fire a
swirling attack which can stun. It walks towards you slowly from the far
side of the screen.

Notes: Beware the attack and jump to avoid it. Then simply hit the enemy to
kill it.

Status Effect: Stun

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MOMMY CAT
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Basically the same as the Mirror Cat but with a slightly different
colour (blue) and a blue fire attack which sends a blue drop to track you.

Notes: Again, be careful of its magic attack which can reach you even if you
jump onto a pillar, and will stun. Jump to avoid it, then hit the Mommy Cat
from the back if you can.

Status Effect: Stun

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MORGUE PEOPLE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A walking man who throws a stick and will jump into the air. He tends to stay
at a distance.

Notes: Avoid the stick and then slash at him.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MOUSE GREAT
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A large brown mouse that jumps towards the fighter.

Notes: It requires a few hits to defeat it early on the game, though later on
in the game, when levels of strength are higher and you have better weapons,
just one or two. If you use magic attacks then it will need at least two of
those as well. Beware of letting it hit you as the Mouse is very strong.
Because it is also tall, it is hard to jump over it unless there are pillars to
use, so act quickly to strike before it can corner you at the far left of the
screen.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ORC FIGHTER
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a dwarf like creature that will suddenly move quickly to attack when
it gets close to you, and this prevents your attack.

Notes: Jump over it and attack from behind, or jump to avoid its attack and hit
it when you can.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PUMPKIN GHOST
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This a floating pumpkin head that drops jagged missiles at intervals as it
slowly moves from right to left of the battle area, and back again.

Notes: Avoid the dropped missile and leap to hit it as it passes by. If there
are pillars or branches then jump up and hit it as it approaches.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ROYAL MAGIRO
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A blue hard skinned creature. It can form into a ball and dash from one side
of the screen to the other at which point it is invulnerable.

Notes: Wait until it's out of the ball before you can damage it. Jump to avoid
it when it rolls across the battlefield. It will open up at the far sides of
the screen.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SKULL SOLDIER
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A tall dark figure who moves fairly slowly and will attack when it is next to
you.

Notes: Avoid the attacks by jumping over it and attacking from behind. These
often appear where there are pillars, so use these to get out of the way and
then jump down to hit it when it is facing away from you.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIEF
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This looks the same as the Kyouna, and is a white robed figure, that moves
towards you on the ground. It will randomly appear and disappear using a
tornado to move from one side of the screen to the other, and fires off four
tornadoes in an X pattern.

Notes: Avoid the tornadoes and hit it when it stays still. Because it starts
the battle on the ground, you can usually kill it before it starts the
disappearing trick.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UNDEAD PEOPLE
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are the same as the MorguePeople although they are stronger and with
more Life, and they can inflict Sleep.

Notes: Avoid the stick they throw and other than that stay out of their way
except when attacking.

Status Effect: Sleep

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WOOD DWARF
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A brown creature carrying an axe.

Notes: It will jump back so you might miss if you lunge at it.
