01.)                    INTRODUCTION                                 G0100
===============================================================================

Welcome to 'Seirei Gari' for the NES, released by Hudson in 1989. It was only
released in Japan.

The guide uses Shift-JIS to display Japanese characters in .txt form. If you
cannot see them automatically and just see some garbled font, set your browser
encoding or file viewer manually.

This game is a text adventure. To play you need to have extensive knowledge of
the Japanese language. Thus this walkthrough is intended for players who are
able to read and understand the text. There is an English translation available
if you want to enjoy this game but do not understand Japanese.

There are three walkthroughs included in this guide. The first is the English
command guide without any hints or story elements, the second is the same but
in the original Japanese, should you be playing that version. Finally, for
those who would like less direct commands and not be told what exactly to do
but only described how to solve the puzzles, read through the detailed
walkthrough.

Suggestions, comments or errors - tell me about it. Enjoy!

02.)                    BASICS                                       G0200
===============================================================================

At the main menu, either START a new game or CONTINUE one by using a password
which you copied down another time.

Controls:
`````````
D-Pad         Move cursor
A             Confirm Action
B             Cancel Action
SELECT        Password
START         -
Using SELECT at any point in the game shows the rather long password. If you do
not use the walkthrough then you definitely need to make use of this feature.
Else you can probably finish the game in one sitting.
The display is quite basic and easy to understand.
Area A has a picture of the current location and/or a nearby person, or maybe
someone you are talking to.
Area B has the command menu. Only useable commands will appear here, so if you
cannot pick anything up the "Take" action is not available at that moment.
Area C has the storyline, text and other information the game give you.
05.)                    DETAILED WALKTHROUGH                         G0500
===============================================================================
Prologue:
`````````
After the scene, check around and talk to the nurse three times, then go to the
study. Speak with Kiyojo three times as well and leave for outside. A locket
will fall out of your pocket before the next part begins.

Part 1:
```````
Outside the manor, check it out and check out the entrance door. It is unlocked
so go inside.
Check around the foyer twice, then look at the picture four times to notice the
eyes are moving, and receive a mysterious message. Take the picture with you
and go up the stairs.
Check around, especially the plaque here. Continue up to the second floor.
Look around and go to the red door. Check out the door and enter it.
As usual, check the study, the desk as well as the silver key you find. Take
the silver key and leave the room, going back down the stairs to the foyer and
then into the hallways.
Check the door and use the silver key to open it. Go inside the library,
check it out and then look at the desk and book. Talk to Kiyoko and check out
the book again to find a golden key. Leave the room and return to the second
floor, this time going towards the blue door on the left. Open it with the
golden key and enter the bedroom.
Look around and check the bureau. Open the drawer and check the contents. Read
the note and speak with Kiyojo.
Leave the room and walk to the red door. Look at the skull twice for it to
make a strange noise. Repeat the same over at the blue door, then go down to
the first floor get the same noise reponse from the golden door in the hallway.
When you return to the stairway you will find that the plaque skull is now
grinning. Check out its mouth and the switch, then enter the passage going
underneath the stairs.
Inside the secret room, check out the surroundings and then the wall. Hang up
the picture for an opening and leave this place for good.
Part 2:
```````
Check around Asuka Village before going to the Plaza. Look around here, check
out the shops and in specific the aviary. Enter it. Look around before going
into the bird shop.

Look at everything, including the shop, the birds, the peacock and the man.
Soeak with the guy and then leave.

When the boy summons the spirit, talk to Kiyojo. Go to the bazaar via the
plaza.

Look around and talk to the old man. Go to the museum past the gateway.

Talk to the lady and return to the village, this time going to the bar.

Speak with the man here twice. Your next destination should be the shrine past
the gateway.

Look at the area, the cistern and the temple. Pick up the ladle and use it.
Enter the temple and attempt to talk to the boy. Ask Kiyojo who does not have
much advice for you. Check out the altar and get the luck charms. Exit the
temple and return to the bar.

Speak with the bartender and use the charm to get some sake in exchange. Run
back to the temple and use the sake on the boy. Nothing. Use the water and
speak with him.

Return to the gateway and walk to the Sake Cup Rock (S. Rock). Speak with the
monk twice and look at the rock twice as well. Talk to the monk again to get a
letter for the curator.

Back at the museum, present the letter to get in after speaking with the lady.
Enter the curator's office. Speak with him three times and then go to the
Turtle Rock (T. Rock).

Talk to the man and return to the aviary (bird shop). speak with the shopkeeper
twice. Leave the shop and go to the house of the strange boy. Speak with the
mother twice to know the boy hangs out at the Hollow Rock (H. Rock). Go there.

Check the area and attempt to talk to the boy... Look around and speak to the
boy for real this time. After he has run away, check the rock and take the
flower.

Return to the aviary (bird shop). Check out the peacock and use the flower to
make it shine, then take the petal it drops.

Back at the Turtle Rock, use the petal and check out the rock twice. Take the
glowing shell. Walk to the Sake Cup Rock and use the shell here. Go down into
the passage.

Part 2b:
````````
Inside the Gloomy Cave, go forward twice and then turn left. Check out the
surroundings and then the wall until you find some symbols. Look at this
mandala and speak with Kiyojo to decipher it. It says "LEFT DOWN UP RIGHT".
Use the shell and then point the cursor on the blue circles in the order of
left, down, up and right. Look around and check out the altar as well as the
white orb on it. Take the orb with you only to get attacked by Lobsterclaws.
There is only one way to deal with this monster: use the white orb. A ray of
light strikes it and you can now attack its weak point.
Part 3:
```````
Check the surroundings and what Kiyoto is up to. Take some water from the river
and use it to refresh Kijoto. Talk to him and then go ahead to the next area.

Look around and check the thicket. Speak with the brush and then to the woman
who appears. After four short conversations, go ahead.

As usual, check around and look at the weed. Speak with Kiyoto and then pick it
up. Walk ahead twice.

Look around and the sign, then talk to Kiyoto and go to Kukami Village.

Inspect the area and look at the huts. Speak with the cop and go into the right
hut.

Check around and speak with the person inside the house. Go to the middle hut.

Look around and attempt to speak with the boy. Afterwards walk to the left hut.

Check around and look into the house twice. Talk to the person inside and the
man who appears. Return to the square.

Talk to the cop again and walk to the clinic.

Look around and check out the guy. Speak with the doctor thrice and use the
herb. Exit the house and go to the mansion.

Check the house twice for the mayor to appear. Speak with him and then use the
herb. Speak him again when he returns and enter the mansion.

Speak with the mayor four time and leave the mansion. Enter the nearby cabin.

Look around and examine the boy. Speak with him and go then go to the grotto.
Continue ahead to the swamp.

Check the swamp and speak with Kiyojo. Check the swamp again and then use the
white orb (W. Orb) on the slimy swamp monster to reveal its weak point. Attack
to defeat it. Check around when this is finished and look at the crone. Speak
with the witch thrice and then go to her cottage.

Talk to the witch four times and leave again. Continue forward to the cliff
overlook.

Check around, the dolmen and then chasm. Walk left and forward to find a
headless idol.

Check around and look at the idol. Go back twice and then check around here.
Look at the large rock and go forward twice. Check the idol again to find it
glowing.

Again, use the white orb (W. Orb) and attack the weak point. Check the idols
speak with Kiyojo thrice. Go back twice.

Examine the rock again and this time the brow as well. Talk with Kiyojo and
continue forward twice.

Check the surroundings and go right.

Look around and check out the dolmen. Examine the four rocks thrice and then
examine the direction rocks in this order: N, E, S. W. Go inside the new cave.

Part 4:
```````
Go ahead, forward twice to find a treasure but it gets cut off. Walk right and
check out the gear twice. Examine the floor and pick up the rod. Use the rod to
work the mechanism and return left and forward to the treasure. A beelzebub
will appear. Ignore it for now and just take the blue orb (B. Orb). The
beelzebub will spring to life so quickly return the orb to its place. Walk back
and right, check the floor and speak with Kiyojo about your plan. Return left
and forward, take the blue orb and walk back to crush the beelzebub. Check what
is going on and go back yourself twice, then left. Examine the altar three
times and use the blue orb on it. Speak with Kiyojo about the image and travel
to the island of Awa (you automatically take the blue orb with you).
Part 5:
```````
Check the surroundings as usual, then the house and finally the sign. Go
towards the house.

Look inside and examine the woman. Speak with her and take the rope. Go to
Takada's house.

Look around and speak with the old man three times before moving on to Yamaze's
house.

There is no-one here, check to make sure, Look at the tools, spear, anchor and
the net before taking the spear with you to the bridge.

If you check the area you will see that you cannot get across, check the bridge
and the way across as well. Use the rope, then use the spear to combine the
two items and go across to the rocky cliff.

Look around twice and take the spear with you again. Go ahead to the rock gate.

Examine the gate and use the white orb to make a lantern appear. Look at it and
check the lid, using the blue orb it will explode and open the gate. Go ahead
through it.

Look around and take the right path for now.

Check around and use the white orb to discover a hidden grotto. Go there now.

You get struck, checking around does not reveal anything. Speak with Kiyojo
for help but still nothing. Keep checking around until you see the shadow, then
examine it. Speak with Kiyojo about it and use the nearby mud to make the
creature Fishmaw appear. Use the white orb to hit its stomach, then the blue
orb to defeat it. Check the rock and speak with Kiyojo and then go back and
ahead to Higanji.

Examine the pillar to find some writing. Consult with Kiyojo who can decipher
it. Take another two closer looks at the pillar before speaking with him again,
then speak the word to open up the door. Go ahead inside.

Looking around makes it seem like a dead-end. Kiyojo feels the shrine is
nearby. Check around once more and then look up to find it. Use the rope and
the spear to climb above.

Look at the surroundings and investigate the altar thrice. There are two
pedestals which fit both the white and the blue orb. Before leaving, talk to
Kiyojo and then make your way to Sword Mountain.

Part 6:
```````
This part is a bit complication, make sure you do not get lost in the caves.
Start by checking the area and the enter the cave. Go forward four times until
you hit a dead-end and look around twice before checking the axe. Pick it up
back backtrack once, then left twice and forward once.
Another dead-end. Look around and check the wall. Speak with Kiyojo and then
return back and walk right three times.
At this dead you should also examine the area first, then the wall and speak
with Kiyojo about it.
Go back left and return back twice before going right. Check around twice and
then use the white orb. Check the wall and go up on the ledge.
Go back down and left all the way. Check around and check out the rock. Attempt
to take the rock and go right and back.
Look around and examine the wall. Use the white orb and attempt to use the axe.
Go forward three times and then left.
Check around twice and then use the white orb to discover lava behind the wall.
Use the axe to break the wall down and then quickly go right three times, back
twice and continue right and up on the ledge. Use the axe to cool down the
lava and then jump down from the ledge.
Walk left three times and then go back, the wall is now broken (although the
visuals do not show that). Speak with Kiyojo before going to Shambala.
Part 7:
```````
As you as you begin a rock monster will attack you. As usual you will want to
use the white orb to find out its weak spot, then attack. Talk to Koyojo who
will be a decoy, then attack once again. Look around and examine Kiyojo before
checking out the sword. Take it with you of course, then speak with Kiyojo
twice. Go ahead without him.

Check it out first, then use the white and blue orb in that order. Use the
sword and check the area twice to find you can advance. Do so.

Look around and examine the star, crystal and the area once again before
looking at Miu. Speak with Rosencrantz twice and use the white orb on him. It
fails, but attempt to attack nonetheless. Use the sword to defeat him.

Finally, use the locket on the monster and attack it.

Look around, check on Miu and talk to her to complete the game.
