For an NES game, this is really fun.
Akira for the NES is a surprisingly good game. There are many good points to this game, as is for the movie. Sadly, there are bad points too.
Akira has pretty descent gameplay. You have to choose your own path in this game. It depends what options you select, some may end the game, and some may lead to the next part. Its like a complex puzzle, with many combinations.
Akira's story is simply amazing! Set in Neo-Tokyo in 2016, a biker gang, known as the capsules, are in constant struggles with another gang, the clowns.
The leader of the capsules, and one of the main characters in the game, is named, Kaneda. His childhood friend, Tetsuo, gets in an accident on a highway street, that forever changes his life.
There is much more to the storyline, but i don't want to ruin it for anyone.
The graphics are very good for an NES game. It looks like the movie, with less color, and blockier graphics, but it still looks good. It actually makes you feel like you are in the movie. I know that may sound silly, but for an NES game, it has good graphics.
The sound in Akira is pretty annoying. It's not horrible, but constantly hearing the same sounds, gets annoying.
Since this is an NES game, you can expect the controls to be pretty basic, and easy to grasp. And yes that is the case for this game. You only need to press a few different buttons throughout the game. (That may sound bad, but it's not, its an NES game, who wants tricky controls for an NES game?)
This is an NES game, (which i know i have stated multiple times) and a good one i might add. So, you can't expect the replay to be awesome. But, the replay is pretty good. You chose many different things throughout the game, which will lead to different circumstances later on, that may end the game, or continue on with it. (Which i stated before.) This is a good aspect to the game, seeing that you don't have to do the same thing for every time you want to play it.
If you have an NES, and still play it, find this game, it will keep you busy for a little while. While it's not the best NES game, it is pretty fun in its own way.
