Join Mario and Luigi on their original adventure!

We all know Mario right? His first adventure was Super Mario Bros. right? Well that's not true. Mario and Luigi were in a game before the Nintendo system was even released. Of course, this game was translated to the Nintendo when it was released.

The game play was simple. Mario (and Luigi if there's a player 2 too) have to destroy all of the enemies to go onto the next level, which was basically the same, but with more or new enemies. To defeat them, you have to hit the ground below them which flips them over. When they're upside down, just touch them and they'll be defeated. There were turtles who were the basic enemies, crabs, who if you just hit them once, they speed up, you'll have to hit them twice to knock them over, and there were bugs who jumped. If you flipped over an enemy but didn't defeat it, it would get up and be faster. There was a pow block that if you hit it, it would hit all enemies touching the ground. Also, if you take too long, a fireball would appear and attack your guy.

The graphics aren't spectacular, but they're forgiveable. I mean, in a game that was released before the NES even came out, and that translated into an Atari 2600 game almost flawlessly, the graphics and sound just aren't going to be too great.

The point of this game is that it's a good game, but it just seems outdated. You'll probably be able to pick this one up at a pawn shop somewhere for real cheap. It'll help you to pass the time, and it's a blast with a second player.

Rating:   3.5 - Good
