The quintessential first-person shooter for the N64

GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64 is not only the best Bond game available, but the best first-person shooter and maybe even the best Nintendo 64 game. Rare has created a video game masterpiece that should NOT be missed by any gamer.

Graphics: 10/10
The graphics were remarkable for their time, and are up to par to today's standards even. The environments look realistic and lifelike, and are very clear and detailed when playing the game. Great graphics for the Nintendo 64, especially. No complaints here.

Sound/Music: 10/10
The music sounds like it's coming directly from the movie and is very impressive. The James Bond theme song is a classic and one of my favorites. The sound is still unique even though there is no voice acting in the game. Sounds such as the throwing of grenades, blazing gunfire, and alarms are done exceptionally well. No complaints.

Story: 9/10
In GoldenEye 007, you're playing as 007, James Bond, an agent whose mission is to find a madman terrorist by the name of Janus. Not the best story ever, but I can still handle it. No major complaints.

Gameplay: 10/10
The gameplay is where this game really shines! There are 20 levels accessible in the game and the variety of weapons is even better. You can access over 20 various weapons, some weapons more useful than others in certain situations. The AI in GoldenEye is quite impressive for such an old game on the N64. Enemies will follow you to different rooms, call for backup, hide behind barriers, etc. The game plays very smoothly on such an old console like the N64. Very little lag, if any, is found during normal gameplay.

Multiplayer: 10/10
Don't feel like playing single-player? You can play multiplayer with your friends then! You can play with up to 4 players in matchmaking, and there are 8 or so multiplayer levels available. You can customize the availability of weapons in a certain match to make the game easier or more challenging. One of the best aspects of GoldenEye by far is its multiplayer.

To conclude this review, I recommend you buy GoldenEye 007 now, especially since its been out for such a long time. If you don't buy this game, you're missing an epic first-person shooter experience. GoldenEye 007 for the Nintendo 64 is the quintessential first-person shooter and one of the best video games ever created!
