When Sega was coming up with ideas for Sonic the Hedgehog in 1990, one of their character ideas was a rabbit that grabbed things with its ears. Obviously, it was scrapped by Yuji Naka in favor of hedgehogs. That didn't stop Sonic Team from coming back to this idea in 1994, with a few changes that would ultimately become Ristar, releasing in early 1995.
