The second level "Roar at Monkeys" -- which features simian annoyances throwing Simba around like a ragdoll -- was a memorable stumbling block for many players. According to Louis Castle, Westwood co-founder, the difficulty was deliberate: "What happened was, at the time, Blockbuster had these rental programs that had just come out, and Disney had a rule across all of its products that you couldn't get past a certain percentage of the game in a certain period of time. So the only level in the early levels where we had the ability -- in the eleventh hour, literally -- to make it longer and more complicated was the monkey puzzle inside at the end of this level.
