It took me a long time to add those darn shapes. =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- IMPORTANT NOTE =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- I had originally intended to make this a general FAQ covering all the game modes, but due to a lack of interest (as well as my apparent lack of skill in any other mode than Puzzle), I've decided to concentrate on Puzzle Mode only. Besides, the other modes don't really need any coverage, and any tactics are explained in the game itself. As for secrets, those are readily available from various sites (including the official site, http://www.pokemonpuzzlechallenge.com ), so I've decided not to include them. I've decided to remove my e-mail address from the file to prevent anyone from asking me questions not regarding the Puzzle Mode. If you feel the need to contact me, do so at the GameFAQs Message Board for PPC. I N T R O ******* ***** ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ ***** *----------------------------------------------------------------------* Hey Pokémon puzzle fans! The U. S. version of Pokémon de Panepon has finally been released, making my job a bit easier. Anywho, by now you should know the history of Pokémon Puzzle Challenge. A few years back, Nintendo released an amazingly addictive and fun puzzle game called Tetris Attack for the SNES in the States. It was full of characters from Yoshi's Island, but little did people know that the game was originally full of faeries! That's right, the Japanese version, called Panel de Pon, was full of cute little faeries instead of Yoshis. See, Nintendo realised that the game would sell better if they included Yoshi and the name Tetris- both established franchises in the States. Well, the second time around Nintendo is using their most-recognized franchise of the time: Pokémon! This time, however, even the Japanese didn't escape from Nintendo's cash-cow (though their version is called Pokémon de Panepon). It was originally slated for the U.S. as Pokémon Puzzle League, but recently Nintendo decided to change the name to Pokémon Puzzle Challenge (which makes a lot of sense, since the GBC version has very little to do with the whole Puzzle University thing from the N64 game). Don't let the Pokémon characters detract from the gameplay (if you're a Pokémon hater), since the game is still absolute fun anyway! ** **¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯** ** ******* 2. There are 7 types of gameplay panels: Triangle Upside-Down Triangle Diamond Square Star Heart Exclamation (These do not appear in every mode but serve a special purpose) To clear panels, you must move panels so that 3 or more of the same type are aligned either vertically or horizontally. To use my Puzzle Mode FAQ properly, you'll have to know the layout of Pokémon Puzzle Leagues's screen. The play area is composed of 36 squares, and is 6 squares wide by 9 squares high. The rows are labeled with numbers and the columns with letters, as seen below: ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ 9| | | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___| 8| | | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___| 7| | | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___| 6| | | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___| 5| | | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___| 4| | | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___| 3| | | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___| 2| | | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___| 1| | | | | | | |___|___|___|___|___|___| A B C D E F Now, when I say 1 DE, that means move the cursor so that it is in the row 1 and in columns D and E, then press the A button to switch the panels. V E R S I O N H I S T O R Y *** ***** ------------------------------- ***** *******________________________________________________________________******* V 0.1-October 10, 2000- First release. Basic structure completed, but things may look different once I add new sections. Main focus right now is on the Puzzle Mode. Speaking of which, solutions for Stages 1-1 through 7-2 of the Puzzle Mode have been completed, as well as solutions for Extra Stages 1-1 through 1-10. V 0.2-December 15, 2000- Sorry for the long wait, but I've been busy. I finally completed Round 7-3 of the Puzzle Mode, and boy do I feel sheepish. The most annoying thing about the Puzzle Mode is that the solutions are always soooo easy.... once you know them, anyway. Speaking of Puzzle Mode, Star Rounds 2-1 through 5-10 have been completed. I've finished some of Star Round 6 as well. I've also added some info on some of the other modes. ASCII art was changed to reflect the game's new title. I've done a lot of housecleaning to improve the look of the FAQ, and I hope you enjoy! V 0.3-January 10, 2001- As you may have noticed in the newly revised intro, I've changed the focus of this FAQ. This will no longer be a general FAQ but rather a Puzzle Solutions guide. That means no secrets, coverage of the other modes, or basically anything else that has nothing to do with Puzzle Mode. I've also removed my e-mail address because this FAQ is basically done and will not be worked on unless there are minor corrections to be made. V 1.0 FINAL- January 21, 2001- Sorry, but I've officially decided never to work on the other modes. Again, the other modes don't really need any coverage, and I'm far too busy with school and my other FAQs to work on this one anymore. I've reduced the amount of spaces between the hints and solutions to reduce the amount of kb. I've also corrected a few minor mistakes here and there, and unless someone finds anymore, this is the final version of this FAQ! V 1.1 FINAL- February 18, 2001- Alright, so that last version wasn't final after all. I just fixed a few mistakes and formatting errors. Alrighty, Puzzle Mode is now officially complete, as is this FAQ! Hope it's helped you to retain your sanity. *******¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯******* ***** 5.
