That is because there is a bug in the EU/US release of the game that dosen't trigger the Rubberrobo entering the warehouse when Ikki gets close to him. The JP version has no such bug mentioned above, probably they forget to fix it when ported outside Japan. It does not affect the story, however.

You can't talk to or fight the robo: He's just there.
