  1. It might be a cheap way, but THE fastest way to earn rings is to do this.

    1) Get the Gambler Board ASAP. It may seem a really bad board at first; bad stats, inefficient when boosting(uses a lot of Air), and it disables your character's attribute(Power, Speed or Flight). Not to mention it costs a whopping 4000 rings to buy. However, when you win a race with it, the rings you obtained get doubled. Which is what we're about to abuse/exploit.
    2) Go to Free Race Mode, and set the number of laps per race to 1.
    3) Go to Splash Canyon.
    4) At the first part, when the race leads to a shallow pond of sorts, you'll see waterfalls. One of them has a golden capsule behind it, which contains a whopping 100 rings. Once you get it you'll go up to level 3; this enables you to pass your low-leveled competition to reach the finish line first, despite Gambler's awful stats(If you try 3 laps, you'll find that once the CPU racers level up as well, they will easily pass you due to their Gear, which have superior stats compared to the Gambler). If done properly, you'll receive 100 x 2 = 200 rings.
    5) Repeat the race ad nauseam, for 200 rings per race.

That's the cheap, efficient way. If you don't feel like doing that, the other method would be to do the Grand Prix mode and try to get as much 100-ring capsules while getting 1st place at once, aiming for the Gold Emblem(All 5 at 1st place, or 4 1st places and 1 2nd place).

Which means that with every Grand Prix, you can get 100 x 5 = 500 rings if you got all the 100-ring capsules, plus whatever emblem you got. Gold Emblem gives 500 rings, so the maximum number of rings you can get per Grand Prix is a thousand rings.
