Is there a pattern to Teching-Up?

  1. Is it just me, or is the tech-up process a bit random? I've played through with several profiles and it seems that each digimon (including the ones unlocked under the same profile) have no clear pattern to their teching-up. All of them are using cloned or transferred weapons of their preferred type (Veemon "Bob" = Long Sword, Veemon "Bub" = the same Long Sword, etc.), so individual weapon stats is out of the running as a variable. But "Bob" may be level 5 before he gains Slash Tech level 2, while "Bub" gains a Slash Tech level the very first time he hits an enemy, and may have 5 or more Slash Tech levels before he's leveled up for the fist time. Or "Bob" may have to kill many enemies to obtain just one tech level, then suddenly gets a string of 10 tech levels with the next 10 times he hits the enemies. So, is there some game mechanic at work that I'm just not observing? Or are the tech levels given out at random?

  1. No, that's not any help. The thing is that both digimon are the same level and everything, facing the same enemies on normal mode, with the same weapons and equipment. And still, one of them has to level up to level 5 before he gets his first tech-up. The other hits a badguy for the first time and gains a tech-up, and may have many tech levels before he becomes level 2.

  1. The more experience you have gotten since your last tech up, the longer the next one will take is pretty much the rule.
If you try using a level 5 digimon against enemies on very hard mode (from a spot where they can't hit you) you'll get the first few tech ups soon, and many more shortly after that.
If you're using a level 100 digimon and you wanna tech up a weapon you have never gotten tech ups with, then it might take 2-4 hours roughly.
    Hope it became clear.
