While ultimately satisfying, this Pac has lost that extra pizazz.
Pac-Man World 2 is a fun little platformer that a lot of people will probably stereotype. But, you should give it a try. Remember, don't judge a book by it's cover. This isn't the run around a maze while getting chased by ghosts Pac-Man. This is a find all the fruits and Pac-Dots while kicking the ghosts butt type of game. It's not in a maze, it's out in plenty of huge levels in worlds like in a volcano, a winter wonderland and a ocean(I believe). It is fun and shouldn't be overlooked because you didn't like the others. Pop the disk in and give it a try. You should have a good time.
Bright and Colorful. The graphics are really like a fruit tree with 30 different types of fruits. Colors fill the screen from the title screen to the final boss. It's graphics are on the simplistic side and lack that extra detail that other Gamecube games have. There is also no slowdown while playing the game, creating a great environment to wander around in. Overall, the graphics are solid, but nothing overly innovative.
Tunes that fit the level is all that I can say. The tune are one's that you play games for. The music is very upbeat and cheery. The other sound effects are only subpar though, and the sound of eating Pac-Dots is downright annoying. The sound effects are merely okay. They go fairly well with the actions to create an entertaining, atmospheric mood.
This game is one of the most upbeat platformers I have played. The fruit collecting and pac-dot collecting will take more than one time through to collect them all if you don't look super carefully. There is also the extras in Pac-Village like the arcade that will keep you playing for a while to come. The gameplay is very fun and there is a lot to collect. The levels are also fairly big, so you can wander around and get lost in the varied environments. The problem is that nothing is done here to innovate or change the platforming genre, whatsoever. This is the game's major downfall, while not rendering the game boring at any time.
This game has a fair amount of extras, so you'll be playing for quite a while. Don't count on finishing the game completely if you rent it. It will for sure take longer to do everything. Plus, there are little sidegames you can play. There is a lot to do and see. It is also quite fun to go back and play through the game a second time. There is more than enough to do in Pac-Man World 2.
The game makers created a system that works. It has control that are easy to press at each specific time and you have total control over Pac-Man. The controls are tight and you will never feel like you have no control over the game. The control system is truly great.
Final Score- 8.4 out of 10!!
The Final Word-Buy
This is a fun game that will keep you entertained for a while. The platforming is fun and there is a ton of things to do. It is fairly cheap as well, so it is well worth your money any day! Recommended for any fan of platforming games.
