If you pause the game during the Mushroom Kingdom stage and rotate the camera so that you can see the far left or right side, you'll see something otherwise unseeable: a sign reading "DANGER", marking the blast zone beyond which you'll be KO'ed.

During recordings of the opening theme of the game, Sakurai put in so much work that he eventually collapsed from exhaustion and was hospitalized. In the months nearing the end of development, as another example of his work ethic, Sakurai only took a single day off.

In the western release of the game, the trophy descriptions for the Motion-Sensor Bomb and the Cloaking Device say that their origins are TOP SECRET. However, the former is based on the Proximity Mine from Goldeneye 007, and the latter is from Perfect Dark. Both games were iconic Nintendo 64 titles. As those games were created by Rare - who had since been bought by Microsoft - references to Rare were minimized as much as possible.
