This was the first Gamecube game (and one of the first console games) ever to make use of the console's built-in clock. Several of the maps change based on whether the player plays during the day or at night and one of the nighttime missions is completely different from its daytime counterpart.
LucasArts had wanted to include the squad/orders system used in Rogue Leader in the original Rogue Squadron title; however, the N64 did not have the processing power to handle the system and so it was eventually revisited and added in for the sequel.
