  1. Quarantomb is right, the rest is missleading. You merely need to defeat the metal slimes with a character that is under the effect of Wizard Ward. The character doesn't even need to be a mage, they just need to have the skill and use it before delivering the killing blow. So spending 8 points on spellcraft for your entire party (note: earned skill points are universal, you can earn skill points in one class and spend them in another) to learn wizard ward. Lead off any metal fight with everybody using wizard ward then use the strategies for defeating metals. (Sword skill: Metal slash, Poison Needle weapon and autocrit skills from spear and axe)

  1. you need a mage first of all. metal slimes can be found in the Quarantomb west of Coffinwell. you must find a metal slime, use wizard ward with your mage, and kill the metal slime with your mage who used wizard ward

  2. I got that part. Useful info nonetheless! Additionally a ranger w/ a bow seems to be able to hit the metal slime for damage on occasion. I have a problem w/ the metal slime fleeing though. I've spent over an hour and only achieved the task once. Is there a way to get them to stick around. I've changed vocation's so I'm at a lower level and cut my party to 2. The slimes stick around longer but hardly ever long enough to kill. Let alone long enough for multiple wizard wards then attacks!

W/ a full party they bounce immediately!

  3. The trick I did was I had my main use Metal Slash and one of my partners attack regularly while the other two put up their wards. Unless I was seriously unlucky, the two attacks wouldn't kill the slime, and on the next turn the two that put their wards up would go after the slime and (usually) kill it.

Also, although I haven't been able to get a for-sure on this, the metal slimes in Quarantomb seem more likely to evade-everything-and-run if you're at or above level 15. Try switching your party to a set of vocations they haven't leveled yet and give it a go.

  4. Yep cutting back the lvl and amount of party members helps a bunch. I still had slimes fleeing, but I finally got it! I'll go out on a limb and say higher lvls mean quick to flee slimes. I had to change vocations twice to nail it. Consider that tidbit confirmed ;o)

  5. The BEST method in my practice is to get at least two characters that have both wizard ward and metal slash. Change them to a class that can weild a sword and has some MP, and is low level. First round, have your non-ward characters do some initial damage on the metal slime then have then guard, or egg-on, the warded characters as they attack with metal slash.

Head to the Quarantomb where you fought the Raging Contagion, Metal Slimes appear there occasionally. I ususally run laps along the top two lines of the area until I encounter one.

  6. I found best way to beat the metal slimes many time when i got my character to join me the first time. I suggest you to use martial art on this character and you use the metal slash and the second person use multifist on metal slimes most of time and i build lvl up easy. Later get the class for martial arts and use multifist to kill metal slime. That's my method I kill lots of boss with myself and my one character too.
