A great fishing game for relaxation.

This is an outstanding game, having never played the PS2 or GB/GBC versions before I have to say it was a ton of fun.

Gameplay: 10
You essentially fish for the bulk of the game and eventually gain access to a total of 8 fishing spots. Each spot will have different fish along with fish from previous areas. You will buy rods, lure, bait and flies in an effort to catch the mythical River King. The controls with the stylus are wonderful and easy to use for all your fishing needs. You will also be going around harvesting bugs and flowers to trade in for cards, you can get cards for fish as well.

Graphics: 10
Cute cartoon-like, vibrant graphics rendering an amazing detail a perfect 10!

Sound: 10
This is a true amazing feature. The only music in the whole game is the Title screen, when you are in your house, and most likely the ending. For each of the fishing spots there is no music, only sound effects that would match that particular location if you were there in real life. from birds, insects, frogs, running water, waterfalls, and underwater, the game just bursts with natural sound.

Story: 8
The story is pretty basic. You come home from fishing one day to find your sister wont wake up from sleeping, however she seems to be some coherent to sleep talk to you about certain things every once in a while. Your friend who is a doctor tells you that you should seek out the legendary River King who has avoided fishermen's lines for a long time, in order to cure your sister. As you progress through the story you befriend three monsters that will help you get further into the game and reach new areas.

Multiplayer: 7
This is where the game isn't as good as it could be. The WFC tournaments against "anyone" has a glitch so that you can only host a game, that means if someone wanted to join a tournament with anyone, they wouldn't be able to. Standard wireless works fine, but since the game is more a cult classic/sleeper hit not many people would likely own this game for wireless gameplay. As for the Friend Codes, I do not know if you can host or join over WFC with that option since I don't know anyone else with an FC.

Rent or Buy
Definately buy this game, you wont be able to finish it in one sitting. It is a ton of fun as well.

Rating:   4.5 - Outstanding
