LOST IN BLUE Fishing & Hunting Guide ( version 1.0 ) ========================= [0.0] - WELCOME ========================= Hello, welcome to my hunting and fishing guide for Lost in Blue. Overall, there does not seem to be much information available regarding the specifics of what wildlife is available and how to obtain them for the Scrapbook. This is my first guide, so I apologize for my lack of experience in writing it. Thank you, and I hope you find this helpful! TIP: You can use ctrl+f to jump to the desired section. ****************** [0.1] - Contents ****************** [0.0] - Welcome [0.1] - Contents [0.2] - Version [1.0] - Intro [1.1] - Tools [1.2] - Cheats [2.0] - Hunting [2.1] - Animals [2.2] - Text [2.3] - Ground [2.4] - Small [2.5] - Large [3.0] - Fishing [3.1] - Seafood [3.2] - Text [3.3] - Shellfish [3.4] - Ocean [3.5] - River [4.0] - Credits [5.0] - Copyright [5.1] - Contact ****************** [0.2] - Version ****************** 1.0 - Guide Created (1/28/14) ========================= [1.0] - INTRO ========================= So, you want to fill up your Scrapbook and those blank spaces are driving you mad? Perhaps you are only missing a few, but no matter what you try you cannot seem to find the sneaky buggers. Perhaps you have only been able to fill in a few spaces at all. Whatever the case, some of those animals and fish can be tricky to find, and with trying to survive on an island who has the time? This guide will provide detailed information on where, when, and how to obtain all the animals and seafood available in this game. That does not mean that it will be easy- you will still have to put in the time and effort, and most of all patience, to find these critters. The guide will just point you in the right direction. Plus, sometimes it helps to know that someone, somewhere, has found it, so it must exist. That being said, there may be some differences between each copy/file of the game that I am not aware of. Assuming there is not, then all the provided info should be correct for everyone. Also, as only Keith can hunt/fish, this guide is tailored for his story mode. ****************** [1.1] - Tools ****************** You will need to make certain tools for hunting and fishing. For more info on tool making and the necessary materials, refer to a walkthrough. For the purpose of this guide, I will list only the tools most suited to hunting and fishing, and why I recommend them above others. Bamboo Bow (Bow 2) - Bamboo + Vine Lasts longer than wooden bow (bow 1) (Arrow 2) - Bamboo + Feather + Sharp Stone Good aim & strength; for tougher small animals (Arrow 6) - Twigs + Feather + Sharp Stone Good aim; for large trapped animals & birds Bamboo Bone Rod (Rod 1) - Bamboo + Vine + Sharp Bone Sturdy; can catch rarer fish; recommended Bamboo Stone Rod (Rod 2) - Bamboo + Vine + Sharp Stone Sturdy; can catch rarer fish; easy to make Small Trap - Basket + Twigs Allows you to catch small animals, some which can only be found this way Large Trap - Stick + Rope Allows you to trap large animals that cannot be killed with one arrow ****************** [1.2] - Cheats ****************** There are a few cheats/glitches in this game that can help with obtaining the wildlife. You can find these and other cheats right on gameFAQs, I am only listing them here for simplicity and because they are relevant. Note that the use of these is purely optional, I will provide several methods in this guide and using cheats is only one of them. Food Dupe Cheat - Use to help get bones for tools Have the food item you wish to duplicate in the last available slot, with at least two food items total in your inventory. Ask Skye to cook, choose the item (with A or the stylus) and immediately start tapping the item next to it repeatedly, however many times you wish to duplicate; you must use the stylus. CAUTION: if you view Skye's inventory ( X ) you will undo the cheat and the game may freeze. Also, sometimes she will not run out of the duped item and you will have to manually reset it by taking something from her inventory; this reset does not always work right. Trap Dupe Glitch - Very helpful; Use to help trap animals Make the desired trap and have it in your inventory, then go to the location where you want to place it. Open the menu screen, choose your inventory (with A or the stylus) and immediately press the A button. Keith should bend down as if he is searching the ground, or at least be starting to bend, when the inventory screen opens. Select the trap and use it as normal, close out of the inventory and Keith should appear to be picking it up right as he places it. It will seem as if no trap has been placed, but if you exit the area and return it will be visible; your trap should be in the last available slot in your inventory. You may use this glitch several times before exiting the area to make the traps appear, they will all appear. CAUTION: There can only be so many traps in use at one time (type does not matter), and once you reach that limit you will no longer be able to place traps. If you try to place one, with or without the glitch, it will simply vanish; I do not know what this limit is exactly. Also, glitched traps seem to take longer to disappear than traps that are placed normally. ========================= [2.0] - HUNTING ========================= Ah, hunting. This is the only Lost in Blue game without the 'combat' aspect, so the only way to obtain meat is through hunting or trapping animals. Sorry, no wolves to fend off here! If you want your bones, you are going to have to work for them. That being said, there are several areas and methods for hunting. I will give a brief description of each, and will go more in depth on how to hunt them within their respective sections. For hunting small and large animals you will need a bow and arrows. If you equip it and press the Y button, you will enter the hunting screen. You can use the D-pad to select the arrow you want to use if you have different kinds, and press and hold A to draw your bow and then aim with the D-pad. When you release A you will fire your arrow, so make sure you are aiming where you want. Unless the animal is caught in a trap you will only get one shot before it runs away, so make it a good one! -------------- Locations -------------- The only areas in which you will really find animals for hunting are the Plains, the beaches, the grassland, the jungle, and Lake Caldera. You may be able to find animals in other places, but I will only touch on these as you can fill your scrapbook just fine with them. -------------- Small Trap -------------- There are only two critters that can exclusively be caught in a small trap (field mouse and squirrel), however several other animals can be captured and it is easier than trying to spot them in the tall grass of the grassland; also, you can only domesticate a chicken if you trap it. When you check the trap, if you have an animal you will be able to tell right away (if your sound is on at least). To collect it, just touch it with your stylus and slowly drag it to your bag. No matter where you place a small trap, the animals you catch will be the same, so I suggest just placing them near your home. The animals you can catch using small traps are the Field Mouse, Squirrel, Pigeon, Duck, and Chicken. Field Mice and Squirrels are, as far as I can tell, exclusive to the traps. Pigeons are really hard to find in the normal hunting screen in the grassland, so I suggest trapping them instead. You can use the trap glitch if you want. I suggest only placing around five. You can check a trap repeatedly and about every 5-10 times you should have caught something. It is really a matter of luck and patience. -------------- Ground -------------- If you tap anywhere on the screen while your character is outside, they will bend down and search the ground. Sometimes, in certain areas, when you do this an animal will be there and you can slowly drag it to your bag just like you do with small animals you trap. These cannot be caught in a trap though, and it may take a while to find what you want, just keep at it! -------------- Small Animal -------------- These creatures are relatively small and can be killed with a single arrow, if you use good arrows (bamboo+bone+feather arrows are the best, but you can kill fine with bamboo+stone+feather arrows)! A fair few of these animals can also be caught in small traps, and that is sometimes easier than trying to spot them in the tall grass of the grassland. You must simple walk up to these animals with your bow equipped and when close open the hunting screen (Y); you can even do this while they are running away, so no worries. -------------- Large Animal -------------- These creatures are sturdier than their small counterparts, and it will take several arrows to kill them, regardless of the quality. Unless you trap them they will either run away, or, in the case of the boar, attack you once you shoot them. So for these you must use a large trap. You can get bones from the meat once Skye cooks it, and you can domesticate goats. -------------- Domesticate -------------- A word on domesticating animals- it does not serve much purpose, other than to make Skye happy. Even if she has several bottles and the oil can is filled with a water supply, she will not take very good care of the animals. At least, not in my experience. She has never managed to obtain any eggs or milk, so only choose to domesticate your catch if you want to raise her happiness. When the animal inevitably dies, the first response will make her happy (I am not sure if any other response will get her to take better care of it or not, but I will assume not unless someone corrects me). Chickens and Goats can be domesticated when captured in traps. -------------- Summary -------------- Locations: Beach - Either beach, in Plains area Plains - Home Area, around both beaches Grassland - Grassy area with animals & ruins Jungle - Area with vines, logs, & swamp Lake - Volcano crater lake Caldera, on side with hot spring Methods: Sm.Trap - Use Small Trap Ground- Found by looking at ground in area Small - small animal can be killed with bow Large - large animal can be caught (large trap) & killed with bow ****************** [2.1] - Animals ****************** Name - Location - Time - How to Obtain Hermit Crab - Beach - Any - Ground Sand Crab - Beach - Any - Ground Coconut Crab - Beach - Any - Ground Land Tortoise - Jungle - Any - Ground Lizard - Jungle - Any - Ground Snake - Jungle - Any - Ground Boar - Grassland - Night - Large Duck - Lake/Any - Any - Small/Sm.Trap Deer - Grassland - Day - Large Raccoon - Grassland - Night - Small Chicken - Grassland/Any - Day/Any - Small/Sm.Trap (can domesticate) Rabbit - Grassland - Day - Small Field Mouse - Any - Any - Sm.Trap Pigeon - Grassland/Any - Day/Any - Small/Sm.Trap Goat - Grassland - Day - Large (can domesticate) Lynx - Grassland - Night - Small Squirrel - Any - Any - Sm.Trap ****************** [2.2] - Text ****************** Hermit Crab An Odd creature often found when searching the beach. It lives in a top shell and when plucked out it tastes delicious in soup. Sand Crab A small crab often found when searching the beach. Not much meat, but it tastes good when ground, shell and all, and used in soup. Coconut Crab A crab with big claws that lives in tropical areas. Break the hard shell to eat the crab meat. It's delicious!!! Land Tortoise Tortoise found in the Jungle. It moves slow and is easy to catch. Now, how should I cook it? Soup? Broiled? Lizard Reptile that can be caught in the Jungle. I'll think of it as an important food source, so I'll do my best eating them. It is delectably delicious. Snake A long, grotesque, wriggly snake found in the Jungle. Need to eat to survive! Soup or fried, who knows? Maybe it's delicious. Boar Large animal found in the grassland. It eats roots and bugs by digging in the ground. It has a lot of stamina and is hard to bring down. Be careful. Duck A water bird found at Lake Caldera. Located in the middle of the island. The meat is small. I'll boil it with vegetables and make stew. Deer A large animal found in the grassland. The male has a branched horn. The meat is large. Raccoon A very shy animal found in the grassland. It is nocturnal so you don't see it often during the day. The meat is large. Perfect for stew!! Chicken A bird with small meat, found in the grassland. It will lay an egg every day if you can domesticate it. The egg is very high in protein and can be used in various recipes. Rabbit It lives in burrowed holes in the grassland. The meat is very tender and light to the taste. Very delicious. Field Mouse Capture it by placing a trap in the grassland. Although the meat is small, it is very tender and delicious. Even rat meat is an important food source. I'll eat it. Pigeon A common bird found throughout the grassland. The meat is small and light to the taste. Tastes good broiled or simmered. Goat Large animal found in the grassland. If captured, it can be domesticated and milked. The milk is highly nutritious. I'm going to try a recipe using milk. Lynx A nocturnal animal found in the grassland. It looks like a large cat and lives off of smaller animals. The meat is large. Squirrel A very cute animal that can be trapped and lives in the grassland. The meat is very tender and delicious. ****************** [2.3] - Ground ****************** There are six animals that can only be caught by looking at the ground and hoping you are lucky enough to see them. This is all up to luck, you might find everything very quickly or you might spend days in the game just searching the ground. Good luck. There are only two locations for this method, and they are the beaches and the jungle. ---------- Beach ---------- Crabs- that's what you will find on the sandy beaches. There are three crabs, the Hermit Crab, the Sand Crab, and the Coconut Crab. Hermit Crabs are somewhat slow, but I often found them on the edge of the screen. You will need to nab them before they go off screen completely, but this is not too hard to do. They have a cone-type shell on their back. Sand Crabs are fast and small. They will scuttle quickly across the screen, so you should be paying attention. Coconut Crabs are slow and large. They have two big pincers, but are really easy to catch. You should have no problem with these. ---------- Jungle ---------- Reptiles are found in the jungle. There are three critters, the Land Tortoise, the Lizard, and the Snake. Land Tortoises (turtle) are really slow and common. They are perhaps the easiest to catch of all the ground creatures, but don't quote me on that. Lizards are moderate in speed, they are not too hard to catch. Snakes are fast and they wriggle all over the place, so they can be a challenge to capture. If the tortoises are the easiest, these are the hardest. ****************** [2.4] - Small ****************** Mostly you will find these animals in the grassland; the only exception is the duck, which can be found at Lake Caldera (the side with the hot spring). Hunting in the grassland can be difficult, as the tall grass makes it difficult to see the small animals. Some of these animals, the birds, can also be caught in small traps, but you will have to hunt for the Rabbit, Raccoon, and Lynx. ---------- Trappable ---------- Pigeons are the smallest bird in the game, which makes them extra difficult to see in the grassland hunting screen. I recommend trapping this one, though you will not get feathers from it; feathers are easy enough to get anyway (they can be found in the second plains/beach area, where you found Skye, by taking a shortcut from the grassland and pushing logs to make it accessible). Ducks are really easy to spot and shoot at Lake Caldera, but you can obtain them sooner and closer to home by catching them in a trap. Chickens are fairly easy to spot in the hunting screen in the grassland as they stand out and are a decent size. However, you can only domesticate them if you capture them in a trap. ---------- Hunting ---------- Rabbits can be found in the grassland during the day. They are slightly rare, but they are the only small mammal found during daytime so they are easy to recognize. They are hard to see on the hunting screen, so they can be really challenging to kill. Raccoons can be found in the grassland during the night. They are pretty common and are recognizable by their squeaky chatter. They are not too difficult to spot, but like all the smaller animals it is still kinda hard. Lynxes can be found in the grassland during the night. They are rare, and look a lot like the raccoons in the dark, their tan golden color hard to distinguish from a raccoon's gray coat. However, they do not chatter, they are quiet except for their movement through the grass. They are also a bit harder to spot on the hunting screen, and may make low growling sounds. ****************** [2.5] - Large ****************** There are only three large animals, and they all have to be caught using a large trap in order to be killed. They are the Deer and the Goat during the day and the Boar at night. Be careful, boars will attack you if you try to shoot them when they are not trapped. Traps will take between 1-3 days to disappear, though glitched traps can take longer. There are three methods of trapping these animals, use whichever you like! ---------- Method 1 ---------- (This method was adapted from Kayshabeast's FAQ.) This method takes patience and requires you to pay attention. With a, or preferably several, large traps on hand as well as your bow and arrows, walk around the grassland. When you spot one of the large animals, be careful. Keep it in sight but stay far enough away that you don't scare it off (you may want to experiment to find the best distance). Watch the animal for a bit to figure out its path, they move in a series of straight lines and turns, sometimes they will just keep moving in a circle, but I have found that rare. Walk a bit ahead of the animal's path and place your trap, then get out of the way, watch and wait. If you are lucky, the animal will continue on its course and get caught. Even if they turn a little they might still be close enough, but sometimes they make a sharp turn and never make it to your trap- infuriating, I know. Note that you cannot use the glitch when doing this method! ---------- Method 2 ---------- (This method was adapted from Paul Acevedo's FAQ.) This method only takes patience with repetitive boring actions and luck. Take your large trap and place it somewhere in the grassland; if you have wandered around it enough you should know some locations where animals show up often, stick it there preferably. Then just go into the cave and come back out. If something has been caught you will be able to hear it crying out right away (you may need to step away from the cave if the water is too loud). If you don't hear anything, just repeat the process of leaving and returning to the grassland until you do. Pretty simple, but it can be annoying. When you do catch something you will need to place another trap to continue hunting. Note that you can use the glitch if you want. ---------- Method 3 ---------- This method is very similar to method 2, but it does have some advantages and disadvantages over it. With this method you should be able to catch animals much more often, almost every time you enter the grassland. However, it can be a lot harder to find the animals you have trapped. This method takes memory- remembering where you set your traps. Pretty much you will be placing a lot of traps (10+), which you can either make and have on hand or use the glitch. You just place them around the grassland in areas where you see large animals appear a lot, then follow the same exiting into the cave and returning to the grassland procedure mentioned above. You should hear the animal's calls of distress fairly often. You might also capture animals while just wandering around the grassland looking for other prey, so this is useful for saving time. But it can be easy to forget where you set your traps, and it is hard to tell where the animal's cries are coming from so it can take a while to find them. Place new traps as the old ones are used up. Note that you can use the glitch if you want, and it is helpful. ========================= [3.0] - FISHING ========================= Fishing can be done with either a spear or a rod (or a trap, but other than to save time or avoid the fishing mini-games, they are mostly pointless). You can actually catch a lot of fish with the spear, but you can catch all the fish with the best rod, so I am writing this guide for that. When you equip a rod, press Y near any body of water where fishing is available. It does not matter if you are on a ledge high above the water, and in fact some fish can only be caught in such a place. When you press Y the fishing screen will open. The bobber is easily visible and will bob slightly no matter where you are fishing, but you will definitely know when you get a bite. The bobber will sink under the water completely. When this happens you should press A and use the D-pad to 'pull' in your line. If it is a more common easier to catch fish it will not offer much resistance, you can usually just pull straight to you. If it is a harder one you will need to pull the line in the opposite direction that the fish is pulling- basically, keep it away from the edges of the screen- while also pressing down to pull it to you. Some fish can snap your line, though this rarely happens. Skye mentions that the moon and the tides affect fishing, but I am not sure how much if at all. If you are having trouble catching a certain fish, you may want to try at a different time or when the tide changes, or even the moon's phase. Some of these fish are extremely rare and you can fish a spot dry several days in a row and still not catch it. Keep trying. I have made up my own locations for fishing, based on my own experience. These may not be quite the same for everyone, but should be at least close. I define a 'spot' as when you fish one area dry (as in, fish stop showing up) you move along and once fish are present again you have reached a new spot. I also define it loosely by my finding a new fish there, although technically these may not be spots on their own at all. Some of these fish may actually be found in several other areas that I have not listed- this is simply because I have not found them there. If anyone has any more info, please contact me. Note: For the fish, I will only go into detail on the ones I found the rarest or the most difficult to catch. ----------- Locations ----------- Beach #1 - Ocean - The first beach, with your home (1) - Right; near the river (2) - Left; near rocky patch (3) - Middle Left; below outcropping of land Beach #2 - Ocean - The second beach, with Skye's beached raft (1) - Left; near the raft (2) - Middle Left; above the corner/angle (3) - Right; near the rocks blocking the cove (4) - Right; in the cove (5) - Middle Right; below third tree from rocks Plains - River - Your home area (1) - Top; near big waterfall (2) - Top; near small waterfall (3) - Top; below first small ledge (4) - Middle; above water hole (5) - Bottom; below water hole (6) - Bottom; near ocean/mouth Grassland - River - Area with animals & ruins (1) - Top; near waterfall (2) - Middle Top; just beneath waterfall pool (3) - Bottom; near cavern/entrance ****************** [3.1] - Seafood ****************** Name - Where to Obtain Abalone - Beach #1 (on left rocky path) Short-neck - Beach #1 (in mounds on ground) Clam - Beach #1 (ground on left rocky path) Scallop - Beach #2 (pickup in cove at low-tide) Oyster - Beach #2 (pickup at low-tide) Freshwater Clam - Beach #1 (in mounds on ground) Seaweed - Beach #1 (pickup, common) Mackerel - Beach #1 (3) Rock Bream - Beach #2 (4) Sillaginoid - Ocean, common Balloon Fish - Beach #1 (2) Moray - Beach #2 (3) Sardine - Beach #1 (1) / Beach #2 (2) Sting Fish - Beach #1 (3) / Beach #2 (2) File Fish - Beach #1 (1) / Beach #2 (1) Flat Fish - Beach #2 (5) Sea Bream - Beach #2 (2) Parrot Fish - Beach #2 (5) Sweet Fish - Plains (2) Cat Fish - Grassland (3) Black Bass - Plains (3) Arowana - Plains (1) Carp - Plains (5) Eel - Plains +Night (5) Crucian - River, common Japanese Huchen - Grassland (1) Char - Grassland +Rain (2) Salmon - Plains (6) ****************** [3.2] - Text ****************** Abalone A large one-sided clam found attached on the rocks. It has a bumpy textured shell which is well packed and meaty. A delicacy with a wonderful crunchy texture. Short-neck The most commonly found clam along the beach. I can make the best tasting clam chowder with these. I'm going to need milk, vegetables and spice in order to make it. Clam The meat is plump and fleshy. It's on the large side for a clam but it should be good either grilled or in a soup. Scallop One of the larger clams. It lives deep in the ocean and is hard to find. The best chance to get them is when the tides recede. There's a large piece of meat in the middle. Oyster It's supposedly called the "milk of the sea." Tasty and full of nutrients. I heard that you can eat these raw, but is it really okay? I don't want to get sick so I'll cook them instead. Freshwater Clam Seems you can find these a lot where the river and ocean meet. One of the smaller clams. It tastes good when made into soup. I wonder how many I need in order to be filled? Seaweed Seaweed washed ashore. A rather easy food source to obtain. Full of fiber and minerals, it tastes good when added to soup. Mackerel This fish doesn't have a strong pull so it is rather easy to catch. Tastes good when grilled or dried. Rock Bream A fish that can be caught along the shore. It has a distinct white and black stripe and a strong pull when fishing. Sillaginoid A commonly caught, nice looking small fish. It has a tasty, light, delicate meat, which is good grilled or fried. Balloon Fish From the puffer fish family but without the poison. It has a lot of spines and is tough to prepare. Not much meat from it despite the effort spent. Tastes good as soup. Moray It has jagged sharp teeth that can hurt you badly when bitten. Despite having a harsh and grotesque appearance, it has a light, delicate, tasty white meat. Sardine It swims in schools close to the water's surface. It doesn't have a strong pull so it's easy to catch. It doesn't fill you much but it tastes good when dried. Sting Fish A fish that bites bait often and lives along the shore. It has a large head and mouth with bulging eyes but it tastes quite good. It can hurt you if you get stung by its fin. File Fish It has a hard, rough skin so you need to skin it before preparing it. It's tasty white meat is light and delicate. The liver tastes exceptionally good! Flat Fish An odd shaped fish with both eyes on one side of it's body. This tasty delicacy has a firm flesh. Tastes excellent prepared as a meuniere. Sea Bream A bright, red colored, prime grade fish. Makes you feel good when it is caught. It tastes good in any dish, simmered or broiled. Parrot Fish A large colorful fish with a hard, strong beak. Sometimes it will cut the fishing line. Sweet Fish It only can be caught in a clean river. The presence of Sweetfish is proof of a rich, natural environment. Good to broil with salt!! Cat Fish It can be caught in a river. Seems like it lives in the mud under the water. Smells muddy. Should deep fry. Black Bass This fish lives in still freshwater. Eats smaller fish. White flesh is light and delicious. Arowana A big ancient fish that lives in rivers. Eats smaller fish. Very big. Filling but it does not taste very good. Carp This fish lives in slow moving freshwater. Need to remove all traces of soil otherwise it smells like mud. Should boil when cooking. Eel Long freshwater fish. Easy to catch at night. Hard to grab because its skin is slimy. Fat and very good skewer broiled. Highly nutritious fish. Crucian This freshwater fish is relatively easy to catch. It is flat and has little meat. It is not enough to ease my hunger. Japanese Huchen A rare giant freshwater fish that is very cautious and hardly caught. Main characteristics are a big, long body, and a huge mouth. Char Normally hides in the rocks of mountain streams and becomes active on a rainy day. Should fish when it rains if I want to catch this one. Salmon Relatively big fish that swims upstream to spawn. Flesh has a nice red color. ****************** [3.3] - Shellfish ****************** These 'seafood' items are all found without actually fishing, but they are in the same scrapbook section, which is why they are here. These items can all be found on the ground, though in slightly different ways. --------- Mounds --------- Freshwater clams and short-neck clams can be found in the little mounds in the sand on the first beach. If you walk over the mound '???' will appear and you can press the A button to search them. Dig in the sand to uncover them. --------- Pickups --------- Oysters and Scallops can both be found on the second beach. They look like pink shells and you just walk up to them and press A to pick them up, like coconuts. They can only be found at low tide- the oysters right on the beach, and the Scallops in the little cove past the big rock on the right that you can reach when the tide is all the way out. Abalone can be picked up at the first beach, at the end of that rocky path you can access from the leftmost part of the beach. It is brown and looks like it is supposed to. --------- Ground --------- Clams are the only shell that can be found by looking at the ground (like the crabs). They don't move, so don't worry. You can find them on the same rocky path to the left of the first beach where you find the abalone. ****************** [3.4] - Ocean ****************** The ocean spans from the first beach where you washed ashore to the second beach where you found Skye. Obviously, the tides may very well have an effect on the fish you can catch, so my apologies for not having more in-depth information on that. I will try to find out more. The fish I had the most trouble finding and catching were the Moray, the Flat Fish, the Sea Bream, and the Parrot Fish. Other than their location, I really do not have much information to help you find them at the moment. I will look into the tides and times more if I get the chance. Just keep fishing! ****************** [3.5] - River ****************** The river spans from the plains, where you live, with both sides having the same fish, to the grassland with the outside of the ruins and the animals. The river is not affected by the tides, nor the moon that I am aware. However, it does vary with the weather and time of day. Most fish seem to be available at any time, but there are a few that rely on specifics. Eels can only be caught at night. They might only be available when spear fishing, because I have not tested them with a rod yet... Char can be caught when it is raining. I caught mine when it was clear though, but I had a very hard time finding it and have not tried the area in the rain. Carp are one fish I am uncertain on. I caught one (my only one) during the day. Since it is the only fish that shares a location with another in the river, not counting the crucian which is everywhere, and the eel is found at night it might only be available in the day. Rare fish, like the Japanese Huchen, the Salmon, and the Arowana might be a little easier to catch during the rain. I am not certain on this. ========================= [4.0] - CREDITS ========================= Credit to gameFAQs for, well, hosting guides like this one.
