I just bought a used Dreamcast, and I'm wondering if it may be prone to problems or glitches. (I haven't been able to test it yet because i'm waiting for a video cable.) thatethanguy - 6 years ago
It really depends on what model it is. Here's how you find out the model:
1. turn the Dreamcast upside down.
2. Look at the big black/silver sticker.
3. look in the bottom right corner.
4. there should be a number that is circled.
5. the numbers there are are:
0: the launch model
1: the first revision
2: the last model
If the numbers are 0 or 1, that DC will last,
if it's a 2, be REALLY careful, the disc drive in the last model are known for failing, and if you need new parts, they MUST come from another model 2(this dosen't apply to the 0 or 1 models)
Hope you got a 0 or 1! dodge2461 - 6 years ago
Very Reliable. I bought my Dreamcast about the year 2000 and it runs very well despite the sporatic reset and read problems (thought I attribute that more the the game disc than the actual console). I person like myself can really put a dreamcast to task when playing games like D2 or PSOv2 that have long grinding load sessions. kencaesi - 6 years ago
