Local Wal-mart has Sun marked down to $20

Looking online sometimes I'll see Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon for $30

Is it worth the extra $10+ to get Ultra or are there hardly any differences and I should just pay the $20 for regular Sun?
Favorite RPGs are the Chrono, Earthbound, and Lunar series. Also a huge fan of Zelda, Super Smash Bros, Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie/DK64 and many other games.

You know that you could have just done a google search for the differences and already had your answer, right?

https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon_Ultra_Sun_and_Ultra_Moon

It lists changes from Sun/Moon about halfway down the page.

Sometimes it's nice to get a player's perspective instead of a fact sheet

Well you asked if there are hardly any differences... That list shows there are a lot of differences. Your thread title doesn't really ask for player perspectives, just a simple what is the difference. I haven't beaten a Pokemon game since Red, and I haven't played one since Diamond, so I can't help with an opinion between the games. That list should be enough to make your own opinion.

I'm asking for player perspective/opinion. Thought that would be obvious since I made a thread on GameFAQs.

If I wanted straight up facts I can just Google them.

As the above said, it wasn't obvious because you simply asked for the differences... It's there in the title :p

You can hardly be surprised by the response here.
You'd be amazed at the amount of topics that wouldn't need asking had the user simply clicked the first hit that would come up from typing the same thing into Google.

Obviously googling is an option but it's assumed when you post you expect real answers otherwise I would have just done that.

Generic titles don't tend to get quality responses. It is especially bad when someone simply titles a thread something like "help" or "question", so it is best to actually ask the core of your actual question in the title, then detail it more in the first post.

A lot of people are just lazy with their threads and post a question like this when all they really want is what Google would tell them, and they just want someone else to do the search.

Game-specific boards are also usually better for such a question. A lot of people here aren't going to have a specific opinion of a specific game in a series here.

Also, you will get variable answers on if something is worth $10, so you have to make the worth judgment yourself, and thus only the objective differences really matter, and now you have a list of them to decide.

The variety of Pokemon is much better. I think it would be worth it.

Also, Ultra Sun/Moon has move tutors.
Metroid Prime is the best game ever made.
