My n3dsxl has a floppy screen.

Moves back and forth like nothing and even locks back easily. Slides left to right and the left hinge is loose. I have a feeling this is by design, and it really annoys me.

My original 3dsxl had a rock solid screen and I loved it. Just no c-stick or the snes games.

How does the 2dsxl compare?

Do grips and covers for the n3dsxl work on the 2dsxl?

Also, are there any trigger grips for the 2dsxl?

My advice would be to get a brand new N3DSXL or N2DSXL if possible

The reason why its wobbly and hinge is kinda loose, that is to prevent the hinge breaking issue which was normal on the old model, and n3dsxl and 2dsxl have diff body shapes so girps wont work, plus the grips that are currently available to the 2dsxl are the generic ones as of the moment

So is the build quality just as spotty as with the switch pro controllers?

Nintendo has not been known for good build quality for a while now - its basically a lottery whether the unit you buy is s*** or not, with no way to know otherwise.

Like another poster said, you want a slightly loose screen. The original 3DSXL had issues with the hinge cracking and breaking, and in order to prevent this for future models the top was made with some give in mind. This helps with reducing stress on the hinge.

I'm not a 5 year old smashing it around.

This loose hinge was not made with adults in mind

Own one of those too and never ran into any issues
