From here, I think I'm going to jump to Hard Mode now. I'll be on a road trip over the course of the next week so my internet access will be intermittent, but I'll post if I find anything new.
I'm clearing Vanister atm, and when I've finished I'm going to complete my 140x140 perimeter sweep then call it a day and start Hard Mode. How did you find Vanister? get lucky going in one direction or do a square around the universe?
It was more luck than anything else. After clearing out another planet somewhere in the area, I went up north to grab a pickup I saw on the sonar. For no particular reason, I retraced my steps back to the planet as far to the east as my engine would let me, hitting the sonar after each move. About halfway down, my sonar found the Explosive Ball. After I flew over and got it, the sonar was able to pick up Vanister.
When any of us starts Hard mode, would be a good idea to jot down coordinates of items as well as planets, especially engine upgrades!
Yeah, I've been recording the positions of everything I find on Hard.
You know, the Hard gameplay itself isn't too much harder than Normal Mode is; the ball speeds up more quickly than in Normal, but it's still slower than the original AB web game's normal difficulty. However, it is a lot more difficult to pick up any speed in terms of progress. It took me a little while to get my second envelope and a second ball so I can use them both. No engine upgrades in sight so far... progress is going excruciatingly slowly. XD
The "Vertical reactors" is the Graviton.
Almost finished my 140 x 140 perimeter sweep on normal and I've found the Photonic Clone item at [-126, 88]. This item when equipped frequently makes a grey copy of your ship which stays still for a short while deflecting balls and even picking up capsules should they land on it.
Then it expires and after a few seconds another copy of your ship is made, the copies appear right where your main ship currently is. Far as enemy fire goes, I tested it out on a nearby planet and the bullets just passed right through it without harming my ship (I took the shields off for this test).
I'm doing a 140 sweep on Easy, and then I'm going to go do a 100 sweep.
When all is well and done, I'll post an Easy inventory.
Let's face it. Juice? Seeds? Grows on a plant?
Cucumber is a fruit.
Eh, BUMP because it looks close to being archived (topics only 3 days older are already locked), and also because I haven't done what I said I would yet.
