Hmm, I'm having trouble figuring out how they add to the gameplay.

I haven't even played the game yet and I don't have a problem with the physics. just by watching gameplay videos I can tell that it's EXACTLY like the original games besides the homing attack

Yikes with comments like these who needs logical reasoning.

I just don't understand all the hate this game is getting. I'm 24 and grew up playing sonic 1,2,3&K and I feel like this game got the physics perfectly.

Everyone is upset that it's not exactly like the Genesis games, but which Genesis game should it be like? All of them are different, sonic 1 plays nothing like sonic 3&K. So it seems only natural that they would evolve the game play for sonic 4.

It really upsets me to listen to all this complaining about the game. I really enjoyed it and had so much fun playing it. I hope SEGA will keep up the good work.

I wouldn't call the change an evolution honestly.

I wouldn't have a problem with the physics if I hadn't played Sonic 1-3 first. The controls are too different, and when you're trying to make a franchise, changing the way the controls feel is a stupid idea. NSMB or Mega Man 9 did it right. It feels pretty much the same as it always has. NSMB did add a couple weird power ups, but at it's core, running and jumping feels the same. Sonic cannot say the same thing.

I actually went back and played Sonic 2 again, and I the difference was so bad, I actually messed up a few times because my brain was still in Sonic 4 mode. If playing one makes the controls of others feel weird, you're doing something wrong.
18 percent of people think for themselves. If you are one of the 82 percent that don't, copy and paste this into your sig.

actually physics-wise 1-3k are pretty similar for the most part, much moreso than sonic 4 does in relation to them

i don't have that much trouble adjusting between sonic 4 and the classics personally but i can see why most people would

I assume some people don't give a crap about what they are playing.

The gameplay here is very very different and for the worst. Some people actually love the original games gameplay and love having fun with them. It's what made them so addicting, fun and long lasting.

Rolling off a cliff and into and hill may sound small to some people but to some it's a big deal (gameplay is a big deal). playing with the momentum/gameplay is what made the Genesis games not the character or graphics.

I'm in the same boat as you TC. I feel like Im playing a completely different game then everybody else because I find the music, level design, physics and everything else to be just fine.
