Stop... Flamma Time! I remember I had a lot of trouble facing the flabby but fabulous Flamma for the first time. He is a powerhouse with good range because of his huge shield and gigantic mace (although in the 2005 PS2 game Colosseum: Road to Freedom, Flamma had a Weighted Hammer originally called a Flamma Hammer, but I have also seen a character design picture of him carrying a flail). Flamma is very strong and his attacks are ruinous. I parried his attacks and then hit him. Jmanghan is right; once Flamma loses his shield, he loses his best attacks and becomes very vulnerable (as do my large shield characters who lose their shields). Making another playthrough is what I have been doing with this game for the past 6+ years. Learning all the techniques and attacks, experimenting with what attacks work best, acquiring all the weapons and armor I wanted, upgrading the items, unlocking all the characters, and just enjoying the game. You can play through the stories of the four different patrons, at least. Have fun!
