You can just parry that glitch jump, I'm not sure why you think it's glitched. Try finding a youtube video that shows the glitch jump. I can't imagine which one you're thinking of.

Parrying gekko's jump however is a nightmare.

Depends who's fighting him, with Raiden you always block forward. With Sam it depends how you lured him into it. If he starts a dash and you immediately parry he'll cancel his dash into a jump and land behind you; forcing you to parry behind you.

MGR:R includes visual queues to indicate what's about to happen. Red = parrieable. Orange/gold/yellow = cannot be parried.

Right but in-universe, isn't this because they're cyborgs/UG's?
So shouldn't Armstrong's not?

I believe I know which one you mean. In that case, dodge at the last second. The attack has descent tracking on you so if you dodge a bit late he'll miss and you'll even get some free damage in.

Good call. That was just the ticket. I also have found that I did myself a small disservice by upgrading all my weapons to max, since now I can't get the combo high enough for the S-rank, even taking no damage. And the wooden sword won't break his guard fast enough. But I pulled it off with wooden sword + ripper mode. Then I just switched to Sam's sword after I had 50 or so hits.

Only seems to happen in the last round. He'll do his normal leap that he's supposed to do from a distance but he'll do it too close so he goes behind you and the camera messes up the directionality of your parry as it tries to track the movement. There is another move that's kinda like it, where Sam stabs the ground and sends a shockwave forward that he keeps doing in my face amd for some reason I always fail the parry when he does it... but I managed to dodge that one too.

Blademode canceling the first attack from the PoleArm is a good way to get good combo-count, and deals very minor damage to begin with.

And minor spoilers about Armstrong if you haven't played the Sam DLC but his entire body is made, or at least crawling, with nanomachines. So yeah. Nanomachines son.

For S-rank on R-06, either slash the rocks he throws at you(chinese letter blade mode prompt) or collect items from the box. If you already have 5 of an item at the moment you collect that item on the field, it will give you extra BP.

Wow somehow I missed a ton of ranked fights in the Sam DLC.

I'm guessing VR counts but it looks like those aren't the only ones I missed. Is there a battle list for the DLC's?

all VR missions you find in the DLC count as ranked battles. 5 each for both Sam and Blade Wolf.

You can look at an S rank video for Sam DLC and Blade Wolf DLC.
I still think it's probably better for you to finish the DL-VR missions first because going back later you will have to waste a lot of time adapting again to a different playstyle.

I still remember all the S ranked fights for Sam and where they are located.

1st ranked battle is the room that has VR 1 laptop.
2nd ranked battle is the VR 1.
3rd ranked battle is Blade Wolf.
4th ranked battle is go to that room on the right, open the chest and you will get locked, some shield guys and sliders pop up.
5th ranked battle is the elevator fight with raptors. The very first fight with the dwarf gekkos is not ranked.
6th ranked battle is VR 2. You will find the VR 2 laptop after you reach the top of the elevator and turn around.
7th ranked battle is Metal Gear Ray.
8th ranked battle is VR 3. You will find it after double jumping across blablabla. It's in the same area as Metal Gear Ray so don't leave the area after beating Metal Gear Ray.
9th ranked battle is after you exit Metal Gear Ray area, near the exit to Japanese Garden you will see heavy cyborgs that you can stealth so don't stealth past them.
10th ranked battle is the pagoda, go to the highest point of the Japanese Garden, on the roof.
11th ranked battle is the pond area(still in Japanese Garden area)
12th ranked battle is the VR 4. Exit the Japanese Garden and you can see the VR 4 laptop when you turn left.
13th ranked battle is the battle in front of the elevator.
14th ranked battle is the AI Monsoon and Mistral room against GRADs. You get the key by killing enemy.
15th ranked battle is VR 5. You get the key by killing enemy.
16th ranked battle is the 2 helicopters right before Armstrong.
17th ranked battle is as soon as you finish the ranked battle above(the 2 helicopters) "DON'T GO TO ARMSTRONG JUST YET", go back to the catwalk area and you will face some heavy cyborgs.
18th ranked battle is Armstrong.

Note about VR missions for Jetstream and Blade Wolf DLC:
1.You enter the VR mission to save your progress.
2.You enter the VR mission to respawn subweapon.
3.VR mission you can clear it as many times as you want. The game will only remember the highest rank you get for that VR mission. It won't overwrite your best rank with a lower rank.

The subweapon before the Metal Gear Ray area is glitched on Very Hard difficulty. A specific subweapon won't appear for that difficulty even though it appears on all other difficulties. I wonder if it's just my game trolling me. But I have checked it numerous times and it's always the same.

I wrote down all the location of subweapons on my thread but you probably won't understand the instructions but just ask me if you want to know which one I'm talking about.

Sam:
Subweapon location:
From the 1st and 2nd area you can get Repair Nanopaste, Electrolyte Pack, Grenade, Red Phosphorus Grenade, Rocket Launcher, Cardboard Box
Wolf area: Repair Nanopaste
Area right after wolf: EM Grenade
Gekko area with the security camera: Drum can, Rocket Launcher
Right before riding the elevator: Repair nanopaste at the bottom, Grenade from treasure chest
Right before fighting Metal Gear Ray aka as the VR mission 2 terminal area: Electrolyte Pack, Homing Missile, Repair Nanopaste
Metal Gear Ray area(ground): Repair nanopaste
Metal Gear Ray area(same level with the exit): Electrolyte Pack from treasure chest, you will meet this when you are riding the stairs
VR mission 3 terminal is in Metal Gear Ray area. Use the stairs that is heading left
Area right after Metal Gear Ray: Drum Can
Japanese Garden area: Homing Missile at the beginning, Grenade from a plant on ground level, Rocket Launcher to the left of the pagoda(actually 1 more ground to the left, left of the stone steps/stairs haha).
EM grenade below the umbrella, Electrolyte Pack from a treasure chest above the umbrella
After finishing the fight at the end of Japanese Garden, you can still return to Japanese Garden. It will be closed as soon as you exit to the next area
8 elevators' area: Repair Nanopaste that can be farmed because there is VR 4 terminal nearby
Area right after the 8 elevators: Cardboard Box, Repair Nanopaste from treasure chest
Server area: Rocket Launcher to the left of the entrance, Red Phosphorus Grenade atop boxes in the middle of the higher area.
Electrolyte Pack on the right wall. Both rocket launcher and electrolyte pack are to the left and right of the bottom door, it's just that the 2 items are on the higher level
AI Monsoon and Mistral room: Repair Nanopaste
VR mission 5 terminal room: EM grenade
Area right after the server room: Electrolyte Pack from treasure chest
Area right before Armstrong: Repair Nanopaste and Homing Missile

I think I got the name of 1 subweapon wrong. I just can't remember which one. I think it's around Japanese Garden area, one of the subweapons is wrong.
