I only get around 600-750 exp per kill.
How much am I supposed to get at level 31/32?

I'm guessing you mean the trick when you put them to sleep and push them off a cliff? White/Dark Hoxs on the Bionis' leg right?

Well, I'm not sure exactly how the calculation works: There does seem to be a base EXP for each monster, and then some sort of multiplier for the difference in your level and the monster's level.

I don't think the function for the multiplier is linear, they probably never expected level 30 characters to be fighting and killing level 76-80 monsters. If the function isn't linear, then they might not have designed it for such large differences in level; or perhaps they've done something to limit the amount of exp you could earn from a regular monster (for example, maybe you can't gain more than 20% of what you need for your next level). There are lots of possible explanations, to know for sure someone would have to crack the game open and look at the code directly.

For the record, I'm around level 45 right now; and after killing one of the Dark Hox I ended up with around 2000 EXP, 150 AP, and 20 SP (EXP and AP are approximate numbers, SP is exact). So I think you'll see the amount of EXP go up as you gain more levels.

Binary is involved in the calculation. EXP calculation for difference of 22+ levels:

Level 1-9 party members: increments of 8 (2^3) after level 1. Level 1 is 82 EXP.
Level 10-19: increments of 16 (2^4) after level 9
Level 20-29: increments of 32 (2^5) after level 19
Level 30-39: increments of 64 (2^6) after level 29
Level 40-49: increments of 128 (2^7) after level 39
Level 50-59: increments of 256 (2^8) after level 49
Level 60-69: increments of 512 (2^9) after level 59
Level 70-79: increments of 1024 (2^10) after level 69
Level 80+: Same as level 79.

In TC's case:

Level 29 party members: 626 EXP
Level 30: 690 EXP
Level 31: 754 EXP

I'd advise against doing it as you'll only cripple yourself later on. You won't get as much AP/SP in the long run and your arts and skills will be way underleveled

So it's something like this then?

Level difference = Monster level - player level
If Level difference > 22
-- EXP = 82 + sum total of all increments from level 2 to player level.
Else
--Normal EXP calculation from monster EXP reward and level difference.

What about AP rewards? Do those have a similar sort of calculation?

I disagree. I did it a lot and overleveled my current course's enemies and still keep up with arts leveling. You gotta keep killing along the way as well even when you are overleveled.

AP is very straight forward. Starting at level 1, AP is 44. Increment by 2 for every level up.

Example:

Level 15: 72 AP
Level 16: 74 AP
Level 17: 76 AP
.
.
.
Level 79+: 200 AP
