f***, I like a lot of his kit and I also hate a lot of his kit

That makes me happy.

I'm not saying I hate Malz if that's how I come across, but there's definitely some strong reasons I dropped him as a main for Kha, besides just switching to main jungle

No it understandable. He was my main for so long but the rework never clicked as much as his older kit was. To me his W is the worst part for the reasons you said.

My fav was the old W, now I have to say it the E (once you get Lindary)

Well that my favorite champ, now for my 2nd favorite: Xerath.

I seek Knowledge. The most valuable resource of all.

Xerath

Best part of Xerath is his W, while his Q is cool and more annoying, his W does a fair bit more damage, is easier to land and comes with added utility in the form of a slow. Also the visuals look a bit cooler on his default skin. I also like how it basically guarantees a comet proc on whoever it hits because of the slow, something his Q can't do.

Worst part of Xerath is his passive, in an era where we have Presence of Mind and/or Manaflow Band, this passive is basically redundant half the time. You don't even need it half the time if you're careful with your mana usage, and on top of all that, it requires you to get into a dangerous range for a very squishy, very immobile mage just to use it optimally. I didn't start playing until shortly after Jhin's release so I never got a chance to play old Xerath, but from the looks of it, his whole kit old passive looked so much better than this piece of garbage.

Karthus

Best part of Karthus is, predictably, his ult. It's so simple yet so useful, just damage everyone. Sure it has a delay that people can heal up before or zhonya's it or whatever, but there are few things as orgasmic as pressing R for a pentakill. The only downside I can think of is it's extremely long CD which makes it feel really s***ty when you whiff it, but the highs definitely outweigh the lows.

Worst part of Karthus is his Q, it does a ton of damage sure, but it also gives me carpal tunnel and that's against jungle creeps, I can't imagine what it's like trying to play him in lane. I also hate trying to lane against this one ability as a melee champ because he can just keep hitting you over and over again inside your own minion wave. Of course this is alleviated by playing a more mobile champ but man, it sucks trying to play Trundle against a mage going toplane.

Tryndamere

Best part of Trynd is his R, not only does it allow him to viably build full glass cannon, but it's one of 3 ults that can be used while hard CC'd or silenced. Something I think goes underappreciated is how it gives him free fury on activation as well, usually allowing him to come up to full speed right off the bat or allowing for a maximum Q heal right after.

Worst part of Trynd, for a similar reason to TF is his passive, the crit chance he gets from isn't a hard set amount like Yasuo, it goes up and down throughout lane and getting crit chance at level 1 can make level 1 trades feel really bulls*** to go against him. It can even straight up decide the lane sometimes and leaving something as big as that to chance is really dumb imo

Taliyah?

Best part of Taliyah is her W or E (her minefield idr which button it's on), it's just plain fun to land with with her knockup and it's pretty funny watching someone try to dash away from you then proceed to blow themselves up. It also just looks good, I can't put my finger on it but the skill itself just looks exactly what I'd want from a craggy explosive field of rocks.

Worst part of Taliyah...as much as I want to say her Q because of the worked ground mechanic, I have to go with her passive. It doesn't seem to pick up walls as easily as it should half the time, the bonus movespeed doesn't feel as much as you'd expect from a passive that otherwise does nothing. Heck, if it were up to me, I'd make it a tiny bit of flat movespeed, like 30, doubled to 60 on worked ground, tripled to 90 while wall surfing (numbers are just examples it could be whatever). This would give it more depth and actually be useful in combat while staying true to the idea (and I also miss her worked ground having a benefit to using)

Gonna assume you mean trist

Best part of Trist is her passive, anything that let's anyone outrange Caitlyn is an automatic A+ ability in my books, but it also feels very natural with the way it scales. She scales her AD per level, HP per level etc. but being able to scale range per level is pretty unique and extremely powerful especially lategame on an ADC.

Worst part of trist is her ult, it's good point and click self peel, but Trist is at her most fun when played hyper aggressive and this ult directly counters that idea (unless you're trying to pseudo-insec with her but that's probably a bad idea) the fact that it also scales with AP rather than AD means she can't even do as much damage with it as you'd want, although I guess it does have high base damage at least.

I thought you were going to say his passive.
