She always seems to tag me at max range so the return hit becomes undodgeable.

Sidestep or move diagonally away?

Move sideways and don't stand in your minion waves if you can help it. Don't let her poke you and clear at the same time.
Friend Raynor, I can help no longer. Ima head back to the Void Holiday Inn and get a good night's sleep and hook up with you tomorrow for the next mission.

Play her a bit and try to learn the range. Or just go into Practice mode. Her Q has a slightly longer travel distance than the indicator, so it takes a bit of time to get a feel for. And get boots, try to avoid standing in or behind the wave, and just mind your positioning to avoid getting hit by Charm.
Completely honest and unpopular opinion: I don't like the original Animal Crossing and absolutely despise EarthBound and its fanbase.

Play Galio mid and ignore it

Good players step in and fight knowing that they're mitigating the first hit's damage and fighting against a level 1 W.
Ruling for all the other a**holes out there. Censor bypassing updates and proof.
