Just putting it out there that I am really hoping for a Steam release for Ueda's trilogy of games.

The recent PS5 reveal left me cold with no mention of PS1/PS2 games meaning that these are still tied to obsolete hardware. The excellent HD editions are held hostage on PS3 - a system that does not lend itself well to portability. Much like the games themselves, I like a simple and minimalistic approach to things so having multiple machines hooked up is not an option for me. TLG made me buy a PS4 after years of holding out hope it would release on PS3 as originally planned.

Now that Sony have relaxed their platform exclusivity with ports of Horizon and Death Stranding coming to PC, I think there is a possibility of Ueda's titles releasing on Steam where they can live forever. This would make commercial sense as they are highly acclaimed and Sony can resell them to a wider audience with relatively minimal effort. Being an unapologetic purist, I would prefer to see the original SOTC rather than the remake even though the latter is more likely.

Time will tell.

I’m not much of a pc gamer, but I welcome the idea of non-exclusivity for the Ico trilogy if it means getting these masterpieces in as many lives as possible.

Fantastic post, and I truly feel you may be on to something, dear friend.

I'd snatch these up immediately if they were released on Steam (or any other PC games store, for that matter). I'm really hoping for the same treatment SotC received with its 4K remaster for ICO. TLG is already basically at that level, but bundle those three games and you have sold me a PS5!

I would love this and would buy these on pretty much any platform they're released. I keep crossing my fingers for a PS5 trilogy remaster bundle. Shadow of the Colossus in 4K was pretty breathtaking and I'd be over the moon if Ico got the same treatment, plus I'd just love to play The Last Guardian at 60 fps. Here's hoping!

However, the realist in me doesn't think it's really a possibility...

These two games were timed platform exclusives, but not developed by Sony themselves, like the Ico/SotC/TLG trilogy was. I can't think of any examples where the first-party IPs were ever subsequently released on multiple platforms (e.g. Super Mario Bros, Zelda, God of War, etc).
