Arent they both just a flick towards the net with the right analog stick?
I would ROFL but there may not be enough F for me to ROL.

A snapshot is a flick, a wrist shot is a quarter turn from 3 or 9 o'clock to 12 o'clock, or if you go for the extra hard wrister, from 7 or 4 o'clock to 12 o'clock.

The wrister is a little slower to fire due to the additional animation of the stick slightly bending, but is faster than a snap shot.
