Added rule was no UT-chaining outside of the more bonkers fights, only using them when I felt it fit in the battle as it were. Really wanted to focus on playing more flawlessly and avoid savescumming as well. Also did all fights except some Tests of Valor.

Really, really fun run. Think this might've been my favourite run barring a few fights that were really difficult. Favourite chapter is a toss up between Chapter 7 which I always enjoyed and the intro of Chapter 11. I always try to do it with just the True Dragon Sword which is just a ton of fun.

Hardest fight was by a metric mile the Rasetsu fight in Chapter 11. Ended up just dodging around, letting them kill the IS ninjas for me and then focus on Lunar UT'ing the spiders down slowly. Fact that you have to do two fights afterwards is even more scary. Runner up was Dagra Dai who I ended up face-tanking and Zedonius who just never wants to play ball with me it seems like.

All in all I can recommend the run to those who want to get better at NGII, really urges you to rely less on the overpowered tools and more on your own skill!

Congrats on finishing the run. I think that might be the first time I've seen Dagra Dai done without Ninpo but, sadly, it also demonstrates well how BS of a fight it is. That's just never going to happen OLB, no items, no ninpo with that lightning of his. Good fight against him too, I really liked the claws opener.

Completely agree. There might be a pattern I'm missing since sometimes I didn't get hurt on landing, but that's probably a timing thing to when the lightning hits. Just so much BS in this fight, hate him even more in single-weapon runs where there are only a few openings to hit him in.

I do like his concept though. He really reminds me of some of the older NES bosses in how bizzarely broken they can be.

Might technically be doable if you're extremely lucky with what moves he's going to do and if the Van Gelf's drop Blue Orbs. But even then you're looking at a drawn out fight of doom. I'll leave that for some other nutjob haha!

Congratulations. I think it should have been a fun run, I agree on your choice to allow for some flexibility on the UT's rules because otherwise certain fights would've been impossible, for example in chapter 8 (the russian stage, I hope I remember the numbers correctly) the mechs would just spam you with projectiles. IIRC I found a video about defeating Dagra Dai no damage dodging the lightinings, but maybe it was in Sigma 2? I wish I could remember.

Good job! Must've been a fun run. I'm focusing on NGB right now (never played the game much, the camera always annoyed me iirc), but then I'll come back to NG2 for some new challenge run.

Regarding Dagra Dai. It's possible no ninpo, even with OLB. Of course, it requires some luck. During summoning animation/floating, wotvb (3 of these will bring him to almost half by themselves). Mix in some scythe jump xxy/xy. When on ground, charge a long UT, like flails, and release when he comes in for his combo. BoTA UT is best, but it might not last long enough for the lightning to be over. If he spams lightning while airborne, then simply reload.

To be sure: I'm talking about no-damage. But I don't see a way to avoid his lightning consistently without using Ninpo. The method you mention would seem possible, though the luck required seems scary. He has to start floating and if he uses lightning you have to have an UT prepared or restart if he does it in the air.

It's a fun brainstorm though, I can see it be done with enough time on your hands and patience. Would require a lot of restarts though I'm sure. I'll leave this for another player haha!

You remembered the stage correctly! The mechs in that stage weren't that much of a problem. Tonfa's swallow made short work of them, only fight that required some restarts was their initial encounter (so many of them, with backup) and the one with the ogre. Ended up speedkilling the ogre with the kusarigama's 360Y.

Regarding Dagra Dai, if you ever find the video link it to me please, I'd love to see it!

No damage without ninpo is a roll of dice for sure. Could be done in the NGS2 version iirc (the lightning was much more forgiving).

Yeah, that's the part I was referring too. I'll link the Dagra Dai video if I find it again, but I don't remember if it was vanilla or Sigma. I wouldn't be surprised if it was Sigma though, you know why.
