So I've looked and there seems to be conflicting reports on if this is actually workable.

Say I'm trying to get Gem Slimes as easy as possible. What steps, exactly, would one use to generate them using the map method? Or does it just not work?
I've been standing by stairs, opening treasure map menu, closing it, going down stairs...and there's no consistency between the enemies.

Same way, just less flexible.

Since your grotto is selected by necessity (you're in it, after all!), it'll be the last map on the same page that'll affect what spawns via map method.

Also, you'd open your map menu after going down stairs.

You can still change pages and change how maps are sorted in grotto's… Its just the first map that the game goes too when opening the menu.

Huh, I lucked out and got it to seemingly work., though not 100%...but close.

...or not. It seems to be randomly working. Certainly a much better rate of G-slimes than just running around, but not nearly every time. Anything I can do or do I have to live with it this way?

It doesn't work that well in grottoes unfortunately. The RNG gets updated randomly as a monster walks around.

Yeah, the timing is definitely much more sensitive in a grotto.
