I can't recall any earlier titles in the Final Fantasy series that had so much drama arising from the tension among its cast members. There were Cait Sith and Yuffie in FFVII, but that was more distrust than genuine hatred. We had Quina in FFIX, but that was more annoyance than genuine hatred. Wakka really did not care for Rikku in FFX, but that stemmed more from racism than genuine hatred.

In FFXIII, we see things like Lightning punching Snow. Hope also wants to see Snow dead. And Sazh at one point even considers ending Vanille. It's not very often you come across such a band of dysfunctional, miserable team members who are forced to work with one another in a JRPG. Did the Final Fantasy series have any other instances of this?

In VI Cyan hated Celes for a good 1/3 of the game because of her ties to the same empire that killed his family, king, and fellow countrymen. Sure, the dialogue wasn't as fleshed out as in XIII because this was long before talkie games, but the animus was absolutely there.

In IV there are some visceral reaction animosities that end up resolving themselves based on character heroism, but Rydia -> Cecil, Tellah -> Edward, and (pretty much everyone) -> Kain hatred were a thing. I'm not sure if you'd count this though because the character drama in these cases is resolved during times when the relevant characters aren't in the party together (Tellah and Edward are never in the party together, in fact).
