Has anyone tried to clean their lens without the official cleaner? I've seen some DIY lens cleaners on youtube and I might try that, but I'm not 100% sure if I should trust them. Just wondering if anyone has some experience with this. Buying the official cleaner is last resort for me because it's pretty expensive.

I'm sure there is a way. You should look up the ingredients of the cleaner and see if other cleaners have it.

I just looked up the official one on eBay and saw $13. I thought it was pretty cheap.

$10 shipping? Sheesh, that is expensive. Why not try disassembling the system and replace the lens?

There is that to, but there might not be any lens for sale. Worst case scenario I think he can still load games through a usb.

My Wii is just having problems reading Brawl, and I would assume other dual layered discs as well. So I don’t think I need to replace the lens, I think it’s just dirty. That’s what my pro online research has determined. So my plan is to clean it, but I’m not sure what way to do it.

One idea is to do something like this: https://youtu.be/CX_29G6DZQE

Also thinking about buying some random third party CD lens cleaner... instead of buying the Official Nintendo cleaner for 25 bucks and waiting weeks for it to ship from the UK lol
