Check the back of the box, should be label with languages for spoken, subs and menu with multi language support or non english games. Or get the product number (bles-xxxxx) then google it (unreliable). If the text on the back is German chances are its only German.

It is possible to change the language and know if the game has multiple languages:

Go to the settings options in the XMB menu and change the language of the console to english, then start the game

If the game is still in German, sadly it means that the game is German-only and doesn't have multiple language support

Now if the game is in English, well obviously it has English support

For last if you change the language of the console to any other languages except English or German (like Spanish, French, Italian, etc...) and the game is on English, it means that the game has only German and English languages support

Hopes it helps you

Some games don't support the XMB language setting but they do have an option to change the language in the game.

I have a few German games and they all support English. It's not a guarantee but more PS3 games support multiple languages than PS1 and PS2 games.
