Playing Dragon's Crown or Guilty Gear Xrd, it shows connected controllers. I turn on my system with just one controller and I have 3 active. I had 2 at all times until about 2 weeks ago. I can't figure out how to remove them from the list. None of my other controls are on or connected at the time, and I have tried to resynch them to my other PS3 and use a wired connection to test after synching them all to the other system. I always have 2 extra even after that. It is affecting my ability to play some games, because the phantom controllers appear to have non-centered analog sticks, and it makes it impossible to hit flick notes in Hatsune Miku Project Diva 2

First time I've heard a problem like this. Sure, I've read many with phantom inputs with their controllers, but not phantom controllers itself. Good luck on solving it.

You may not like my suggestion, but have you tried restoring your system to default then re-synching the controller?

No. I have a 1 TB drive full of games in it, and a 6 megabit connection. Redonwloading everything is not preferable

Probably not what your problem is, but I my PS3 had a USB hub thing on it that also functioned as a remote control receiver. The receiver would work by simulating a controller, meaning the USB hub itself was being recognized as a wired controller all the time. This would actually interfere with some games that didn't take this into account, such as games that only looked for active controllers instead of waiting for players to press Start. But it was fairly rare.

Again, may not be your problem, but it's something to consider.

I have nothing like that attached. The only thing I attach via USB is my PS2 controller when I use it for fighting games. It doesn't affect this issue.

I did reformat my PS3 earlier this year and the problem went away for about a month. Then it came back. Then a few weeks ago a second phantom controller added.

Could it be, by any chance, a faulty bluetooth controller board? I recall you mentioning in other threds your ps3 being a BC one (i.e fat model) and maybe something went bad on the bluetooth board...Again, can't say much about since it's the first time I've ever heard about a problem like this, but it may be worth to 'troubleshoot'.

I said it in the title of this thread, CECHA, which is the launch 60 GB model.

No clue, don't know how to troubleshoot that bit.

Perhaps you have a neighbor with a PS3 in close proximity? I have a PS3 upstairs in my game room, and another one in my living room, which is almost directly beneath the game room. Every now and then, not every time... If Im playing upstairs and the wife is playing downstairs, one of the PS3s shows multiple controllers on certain games. I also have 2 PS move wands in a charging port in the game room.
25+ years of gaming taught me one important life lesson. You normally don't have to push start at the main menu.
