It says data system file corrupted and I have to do the restore. Everytime I do it and goes 100% ps3 won't restart. If I manually press and hold the power button it will eventually restart but with the corrupt message again! I can't go last that. I've been redoing these steps like 5 times now and nothing.

I have a super slim btw. Bought it like 2 months ago.

There's a way to fix it. I'm too lazy to post links, but it involves plugging your HDD into a computer, and running a recovery program such as SeaTools, or HDD Regenerator on the HDD.

More information can be found on a site that has specialises in PS3 hacking, but I'm not allowed to link to this site.

Does it say you HAVE to do the restore? Or does it say "PS3 did not shutdown correctly and the file system may be corrupted..." etc. or something like that.

If it's the latter, hit circle when you get the message to skip the restore and see if your system starts.

Took nearly 4 hours to go to 14%. I turned it off instead.

Got the receipt? Exchange it if you do. Simplest thing to do really since you've lost anything on the HDD anyway.

Sounds like a hard drive issue. Sadly you'll have to replace.

Well I installed a different, bigger HDD. But I had been using that on my laptop for a few years. :/ then thought I'd get more use out of it on the ps3.
