Heard nothing but S about this game -- while the werehog levels aren't brilliant they are fair and a decent attempt at something new....
Surprisingly it took about 3 hours to even reach the World Map, after that the game feels more focused..

Sonic Unleashed is awesome.

10 years on with Forces on the horizon, it's the most influential Sonic game ever.

I'll just say this: It's waaaaaaay better than Sonic Adventure 2...

They dared to take the annoying world map concept from that Sonic 2006 game. The game didn't need such unnecessary time wasting padding, just to hear some crappy VO work.

It's an alright game, honestly. It has some good ideas and some bad ideas.

It's not a horrible game but it's pretty mediocre.

I haven't played Sonic Unleashed, but from what I've read a lot of people didn't like the stages where you play as Werehog Sonic that much.
It's amazing how people hang around message boards of games they don't like

Oddly enough, it's the Sonic levels that deserve the most criticism. They first couple of ones are ok, but starting from the ice one, they're filled with pit deaths that you will only be able to avoid through trial and error.

The night stages, the aspect the game was criticized the most for, are actually really fun. The combat feels like a beat-em-up, which I love, and Sonic's new powers make for a very distinct new style of platforming, where you use stretchy limbs to get past obstacles.

Then there's the music... Dear lord, the music. Let's not mince words: it's one stellar soundtrack.

Windmill Isle

Adabat Jungle Night

Dragon Road Day

Cool Edge Day

Just a heads-up: there's a terrible design decision with consequences you can be made aware far too late into the game, and it can completely halt your progress. All the game's areas feature these collectible sun and moon medals. Don't mistake them for pointless collectibles - you need to get enough of them to be able to access stages. If you know about this from the start of the game you'll be on the lookout for them, and never need to replay stages and areas to get enough to access the later levels.
"Hurry up and make me the star of the sequel!" - Super Zur confirms Guardian Heroes 2!

^got to Eggmanland and have to agree with most of what u said -- even though i like the day sonic levels most since they are the most thrilling they are also just poorly designed for the most part....I don't care much for the werehog levels but when i die in them it's usually my own fault.

The soundtrack is great.
