The following Game Genie codes are for the original Japanese versions released on the Game Boy.

Note: Must have code enabled before clicking on New Game. When starting a new game, most of Oak's intro speech is skipped, including the player and rival name selections, then the player starts outside their house, rather than in their bedroom. Holding B prevents wild Pokémon encounters.
