"Demise of the Ritual" is actually pretty boring to listen to and underwhelming for a final boss theme of an epic game that is all about boss battles with great music. "Swift Horse" doesn't even play during normal gameplay, so many players miss it completely. But it's so intense and was absolutely wasted by not appearing during any of the colossus fights. Does anybody else think this would have made any of the colossus fights a lot better?
From a pure badass perspective, yes. However, the last Colossus is not a badass one, it's very somber and allows you time to reflect on your long journey. Sure, you can prefer one track over another, but I believe that the music is perfect.
I agree with hisroyalbonkness. Triumphant music would be out of place in that final battle - it's not a grand victory, it's the final step in a ritual that will seal Wander's fate, whatever it will be. He's sacrificed everything, he's just lost his one living companion, and he looks like the walking dead already. There is nothing to celebrate here.
The music isn't designed to be "interesting" on its own, it's meant to set the mood of the scene when you're in it.
(If there is colossus music that needs replacing, in my opinion, it's "Revived Power". It's always seemed out of place to me, and they love using it for trailers for some reason.)
