The cool thing about these clone consoles is that their existence actually help us get back to playing our favorite retro NES, Super NES, Genesis, and/or Super Famicom games the way we love them. Since the NES, Genesis, and Super NES patents had all expired, expect to see more of these clones in the market. They are cheap alternatives and for once they actually help make use of our games so our real consoles could take a break from all those time of powering through levels over levels of gameplay. They also help give shelf space to our retro pleasure when put next to next with newcomers Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Ouya, OnLive, and the Steam Machine while the real consoles could catch a break. Though not perfect, do try them all and see if one is your favorite. To me I actually loving my Retron3 and can't wait for the fourth one which will include SMS and GBA compatibility as well as HDMI hook up.

What're the advantage of these over a legit console? I know that some can play multiple console games, but I'm asking if you have an NES and a SNES, why would you want the retro duo?

Many reason, a few of those clones systems had features that even the original system don't for example the Retron3 had S-Video support for both Sega Genesis and Super NES games, originally Sega Genesis/Mega Drive console doesn't support S-Video input. Other cool features includes the ability to play import games without buying a converter, most of those SNES & Genesis clones allows you to play not only NTSC titles but PAL and Japanese import as well which the original Super NES and Sega Genesis can't out of the box.

The only downside is that clone console aren't perfect, they tend to have quality issues on some games and not all games work on the systems. As for one of those are the best, I recommend the Retron 3 as that one had the best compatibility so far, heck the latest model of the Retron 3 can even play Rad Racer II, Castlevania III, Star Ocean and Super Mario RPG (both the Made in the Japan and Mexico versions this time). The only game that still doesn't work on it is Virtua Racing for Genesis, the Retron 3 is also the only clone system to allow you to use your original NES, Sega Genesis, and Super NES controllers for play with the system, other clone systems tend to lack this.

Well, here are the advantages for the Retron V which is generally viewed as the most promising clone system. It hasn't been released yet, but here are the features for the system.

- Save states
- Rewinding and Fast-forwarding
- Upconversion to 720p
- SNES, Genesis, and NES controller support and full mapping support (e,g, use a Genesis pad with NES games.)
- Supports NES, Famicom, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, and Game Boy Advance games.
- Region free

I had to say the FC-16 Go looks like a pretty inventive portable there, you got a portable that borrow the looks and layout of the DS but had the d-pad of the PS Vita. I got that portable myself and it plays very good, problem is not all my games work with it (particularly Yoshi's Island and Super Mario RPG) but hey as long as I get to play Secret of Mana, Killer Instinct, and Super Metroid on the go, that's a good buy to me.
