Hey, just picked up a Model 2 Sega CD console and as soon as I put in a disc I noticed that it doesn't lock into place like I'd expect it to. Like, in a Saturn or Dreamcast, GameCube, etc the disc kinda clicks into place whereas here it just kinda rests in place. It that normal? Just curious. First-time Sega CD owner here 😅
Yes that is normal. On the inside of the lid that closes, there is a round bit that comes down over the disc. Well that bit has a magnet and when closed, connects with the lower spindle and keeps the disc in place.
For sure, no problem... On a side note though, that round bit that comes down over the disc is delicate. Mine broke, but it broke in such a way that it was repairable with a little glue and sticky tack, but still, good to note.... Close the lid lightly :)
