Consider creativity, sound chip limitations and technical achievement, composition (melody or hook, progression, complexity), dynamics (range between quiet and loud, soft/diminuendo and hard/crescendo), pitch range, instrument and instrument envelope variety and quality, and so on. Some great ones in there, but Castlevania 3 easily tops the cake for me Accept the Dumptruck as your Lord and Earth-Mover, that He may spare you in the time of the Great Demolition. |

Yeah I do think it's a bit repetitive at times, like one of the themes has a re-ocurring part in other tracks. But it sounds great and a handful of tracks are as well. Mother/EBB has gained a lot of popularity in the west more recently.
