Castlevania III
Ninja Gaiden 3
Super Mario Bros. 3
Blaster Master
Mega Man 5

I know, generic answers... I also like Magic of Scheherazade, Legacy of the Wizard, Dragon Warrior 4, and Little Samson. And of course, the Mega Mans / Castlevanias / Ninja Gaidens always look good. I also have a soft spot for Battletoads.

There's... really a lot of good looking NES games.
From the smoothly animated (Metal Storm, Kickmaster, Moon Crystal) to the cinema-heavy (Ninja Gaiden, Choujin Sentai Jetman, Deja Vu). Totally Rad even gets a nod for having both.

The Dragon Warrior games fall handily into this; the 1st game has lush backdrops and huge enemies, the 2nd has that amazing fade-in introduction, the 3rd has the storyline introduction, the 4th has an animated multipart final boss...

There are MANY games that looked great on the NES and have aged well over the years. Just to name a few that I haven't seen mentioned in this topic yet:

Little Nemo: The Dream Master
Jackal
Guerrilla War
The Guardian Legend

Super Mario Bros. 3
Mega Man 5 & 6
Batman: Return of the Joker
Kirby's Adventure
Gargoyle's Quest 2

^^This is damn near the exact same 5(6) that I would choose.

Honorable mentions not already listed in this thread: Little Samson & Bucky O'Hare.

Actually surprised no one's mentioned Mr.Gimmick or Summer Festival '92: Recca yet.

Zen: Intergalactic Ninja, Thrilla's Surfari, and Isolated Soldier can also get mentioned as some of the rare NES games with diagonal auto-scroll (along with SMB3).
