The Sega Genesis Mini will have the ability to swap region settings, and allegedly switches the game ROMs to match the relevant region. How much of a difference this makes will presumably vary, but I know at the very least Contra: Hard Corps has substantial changes ( the Japanese version has a life meter and unlimited continues ).

Which of the other games in its library do we know have substantial region differences worth noting?

I would ask "But wouldn't the language barrier get in the way?", except that from the little bit of Dynamite Heady I've played, I don't think language plays any role in failing to understand the plot. *ahem*

i know that 'robotnic's mean bean machine' changes to 'puyo puyo'.. so that is an entierely different rom with different music (i think)

aside from that i would also like to know

i also wonder if the European "mega drive" will have the 'genesis' games and how changing to English will be there, i am hoping that they will not get the 50hz euro roms, but it would be nice to have 2 different sets of 'english' for the different box arts

The JPN version of Contra Hard Corps has a 3-hit life bar and way more continues. It's seen as being superior to the U.S. release for these reasons.

Also, some of the bosses have completely different graphics. More in tune with Japanese culture. Were changed for the American release. You can look up comparisons on HardcoreGaming101 or something... I like the JPN bosses better.
