Megaman The Wily Wars is almost unplayable with Genesis controls. I'm terrible at all three games.

There’s a delay in the controls on the Genesis version that wasn’t there in the NES originals. There are hacks available elsewhere that fix it, iirc. But you have to walk the plank to get those....

Also, I think if you’re a fan of LoZ (which you seem to be judging by your first posts), then you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the two Monster World games, as they’re kinda like LoZ in side scrolling form. And, of course, Landstalker and Oasis are even closer.

Well, it controls like MM1 throughout.

Fair warning: Wonder Boy in Monster World is hard. Or rather, its not hard per se so much as the levels eventually start throwing some complete BS at you, like slippery floors over pits to prior areas filled with respawning enemies that cause knockback.

i'm playing it right now for the first time, it's not that hard 'yet'.. i actually find it pretty relaxing compared to many others on the mini

i'm at the desert area, i don't know how far that is into the game

then it's fully playable as far as i'm concerned
The american prison system is a sorry mess but giving them game consoles isn't going to solve anything.
