Im thinking of just going with a budget gaming pc mainly for Half Life VR. I dont need to go all out since I pretty much switched back to console gaming.

So for a budget gaming pc, would that get me today's medium graphical settings and performance? Im trying to figure out how much Im going to spend. I still need to buy Steam VR.

And can I use Steam VR outside of steam? Was thinking about downloading porn and seeing what its like.

HLA is super efficient, so depending on your machine, you can probably throw a 1660ti or 5600xt into it, assuming obviously that your PC isn't a junker or just really old. But any computer build around that would work decently. That with an introductory VR set that's around 200 to 250 range like Rift, WMR, Odyssey+, you're looking at around 500 to 750. Although, the market might be really f***ed right now, so throw in about 200 to 300 on top of that.

SteamVR is a free utility and there are free media players on steam that can play VR movies.

If you're buying for a VR build, you shouldn't get anything less than a 2060 or equivalent. The more you can spend the better, though. There's no upper limit for VR. Any "extra" GPU power you have can be put toward higher supersampling or higher refresh rates.

SteamVR is free and launches automatically with any VR content including non-Steam VR games and VR web content.

Yeah, if you want to have a good experience with VR, I'd get a decent GPU/CPU.
