I've seen that as the minimum for a while. I'm surprised sound cards are still included in min specs when an i5 is going to be on a board with a sound card every time.

The sound card req is so you don't use a really old sound card that can't work with modern APIs and then complain like it's the game's fault.
a quad core i7 was just a rebranded celeron -Pengu1n
Anything that has 3p fps or better is fine with me -mucloud

but it's built in to the mobo. Does plugging in a card automatically override that (actually not sure)?

It does. 2500k/1060 3GB maxed out save for high textures and it stays at 60fps no matter what.
Could probably do 90fps easily if the game wasn't capped at 60.

I have a 3570k and a 1080 ti. My CPU is the bottleneck on most games but Sekiro is rock solid at 60fps at 1440p (would be higher if not for the cap).

The CPU used in that console is nowhere near the 2500k's level.

I can still see an overclocked 2500k being viable in 5 years time unless you need over 60fps, those unlocked sandybridges are absolutely legendary chips.
