OK, so recently I've upgraded from a 1060 GTX laptop to an RTX 2060 laptop. I've been happy with the performance, but I've recently read that the laptop RTX is considerably weaker than the desktop variant, and the 1070 would have been a better deal. Regardless, is the laptop 2060 still a noticeable improvement over the laptop 1060? I just wanna make sure it's not the placebo effect here...

Could someone possibly clarify? I've read several different things, each of which aren't 100% consistent. I mean, I know the laptop RTX 2060 doesn't do as well as a laptop 1070 GTX, but is there THAT much of a difference between them? Also, a laptop 2060 is still a notable improvement over a laptop 1060 6gb, correct? I'm mainly a 1080p gamer.

I recently got a Asus rog 15.6 inch laptop with a 1060 6gb for a decent price on sale . For 350 more I could have gotten a MSI with a 1070, but didnt think it was worth it right now for what my uses were.

When I was shopping around I looked at the 2060 laptops, but if I wanted to spend the extra cash I would have went with the 1070 and 8gb ov vram. I’m just not impressed with the RTX cards be it desktop or laptop. One thing I’m not sure of is if the laptop RTX variants run any cooler than the prev gen, this can be important with these gaming laptops as I worry about longevity with how hot they gent nowadays.

Fair enough. For me, I like to run games on high settings while maintaining 60fps, or close to it. Some games, I was able to get the 60fps, but had to leave a lot of settings on low. However, after upgrading, I was able to put everything on high and get smooth performance, so long as I disable things like Anti-Aliasing and the like.

Then again, my new laptop is way more light and portable than my Lenovo, so there's that, and its monitor is 144hz. Also, it's an MSI GS65 Stealth. I would like to clarify, though, with those who are more savvy about this sort of thing: how much of a performance difference is there between an RTX 2060 and GTX 1070, and how much of a difference is it compared to that between a 1060 and a 1070?

I saw that too, and I know that the 2060 isn't as good as the 1070; I just wanted to make sure there was a notable improvement between the 1060 and 2060.

If you scroll down a little this found the laptop 2060 to be about 28% faster than the 1060. Not what I'd consider worth upgrading for, but a decent jump.

Nice. :) I wasn't looking for a HUGE jump; just something that would let me use higher settings, and a laptop that was more portable (Had a Legion Y720, and it was really good, but thing was built like a brick. The MSI stealth I got with the RTX 2060, on the other hand, is light, portable, and slick, with a 144hz screen. ^_^
